I found a thread on the build of the 200 mph Challenger, which has been featured in Car Craft. The stock motor with a 2.8 KB supercharger made 533 RWHP on pump gas. With race gas and tune, jumped to 757 RWHP & 682 torque and got to 183 mph in the standing mile. Not surprising, that motor eventually failed with the stock internals. The modern hemi has thin cylinder walls, so they tested blocks and found one that would hold 1,100 RWHP. 393 cubic inch, 3.6 KB supercharger, NOS, custom heads, ice box, CP pistons, Crower cam, ARP bolts, K1 crank, Melling oil pump, ice box for heat soak. Custom transmission with stock 3.06 gearing. I did not see any mention of chassis work at all other than some minor aero work on the front. The factory spoiler failed at 177 mph into a 9 mph headwind. Custom grill and headlight covers were added to reduce drag and the front air dam was strengthened.
