sound deadener

 i'm in the process of installing some sound deadener. i wanted to do the firewall but how does a person hide what the carpet doesn't cover or do you guys usually stop at the carpet line?

The carpet originally was cut up high enough so that you didn't see any of the firewall while getting into the car.  Your carpet may have been cut too short.  Maybe just paint the sound deadener the same color as the carpet.  That would help it blend in.
