WIW, 1970 Challenger 4 speed 383 HP motor (long block)?

What's this engine worth? 1970 Challenger 383 HP with stock 4 speed carb, fender tag and build sheet to prove HP?  It has been out of the car for around 20 years.

Well even in parts at a min.

200 hp exhaust
100 carb
150 valve covers
400 complete hp 70 bb

Some wont go 400 on a block tho. I have a friend that would like a 70 hp block, he prob would if it was standard bore and not cracked

The problem with buying a block and more so with an HP block is that you don't know what condition the block is in. How far over has the block been bored? How is the crank? Are there any cracks in the block.

It's kinda a crap shoot and I have a 440 block to get magnafluxed! Keeping my fingers crossed!

Exhaust Manifolds - $250
Valve Covers         - $100
Carb                      - $100
Heads                    - $150
Short Block            -  $400

Correct dated setup should be worth $1000 all day. Finding the right buyer that doesn't have to deal with expensive shipping is the problem. If someone has to pay $250-$300 to get it home then you're looking at more like $750

I'm going to ask $750 for the motor.  Since it was running when pulled and hasn't been on the road in over 20 years it should be a good bet that it's a standard bore.

If was close I would pick it up just to sit in the corner and I don't even have a 383 car right now. Complete original 70 383's are getting very hard to find. You shouldn't have a problem getting $750.

At $750 it should move fairly quickly as other motors I've seen look in a lot worse shape.

Would have been a sweet motor to go with that purple '70 Challenger shell you were selling earlier.

Sold it along with the numbers matching trans to the guy who bought the Challenger.  It was a good match.  Got $1,500 for the motor and trans.  It was all there from bellhousing to shift rods and hard to find stuff.  Might have got more parting it out, but this is better to go in a car as is.  Plus I gave him the fender tag and build sheet for the motor and trans.
