Differences in 70-74 cudas

They're a lot different than my 1970 Gr Cpe. Conv. the grooves are curved and less of them than ur's

They look different from 70 for sure,.. but it has multiple countersunk screw holes like mine. Those clips are rare I have been looking a while for em.  Almost about to make my own . Are they for sale?

Nevermind just noticed the modified channel on your rocker set on the backside. Those won,t work I may end up doing what EB3grancoupe did with the modifieds.

Marker lights were changed for safety reason like the large rubber bumper guards.

I didn't know that. I understand the bumper guards, but what was the marker light reasoning? Size?

I'm thinking it was cost savings.  They used the '72 style marker on just about everything from then on, instead of having model specific (and expensive) side markers.

72bluNblu - those look like '71's.  the ribs are thicker, and the backs are way different.  Here is the '70 style:



 '71 GTX's, i think, also got rocker moldings like that, but are longer than the e-body version.

GranCuda1970 -  The nice thing about the one's i adapted, is that you can pop out the molding and reuse the clips.  the metal clips, not so much.

I saw a fella trying to sell a pair of the 70's for 1K.  Out of control !
I purchased two sets of 70's for 75 bucks apiece.

I have not seen a set of 71's for sale at all though. I am assuming the 71's are far more rare than the 70's because of this.

Restore them.
But don't over restore them (Polished shine) and you'll get a pretty penny for them.
They were likely clear anodized from the factory just like the door top trims were.

I know I'd definitely get more money for them restored, but I really don't have the time to do it. I also don't want to sink a ton of money into having them re-anodized.

They'll clean up some more pretty easily, I'll probably just do that. Plus I think the market for them is restoration anyway, and I'd hate to "do it wrong" and have them be worth less after I put time and money into them.

Does seem like they're pretty rare, but I also don't know how much of a market there is for them. Seems like most people clone their Gran Coupe's to something else and ditch the trim...

They are for sale though, I want to do some more research to find a fair price, but I'm open to offers if someone needs them.

steering wheels were different, '72 and on only offered 1 style wheel.

e-brake cables changed from '70 to '71.

inner fenders were different, '71-'74 were different from '70

mounting location for the horns changed.
