Best Air/Fuel Meter
« on: May 22, 2012 - 10:35:44 AM »
So I am looking for an Air/fuel meter for my cuda.

Who makes the best one one?

Would you buy a used one?

i just put this one in my '74 challenger

http://www.amazon.com/Equus-8366-Fuel-Ratio-Gauge/dp/B000EVU9RY/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1337785387&sr=8-9

it's a dual gauge that you can connect 2 o2 sensors. this way you don't have to install 2 gauges. i got the whole setup for under 100 bucks.
the gauge, 2 bosch narrow band o2 sensors and 2 stainless bungs. now, don't know if it's the best, but it does work good. just put it in last
weekend so i have some carb tuning to do now

For the money now just buy a wideband. They will read actual air fuel ratios versus just rich or lean. The main difference in meters are just how they look and if they are meant to be portable tools or mounted gauges. If a narrow band is all you need for testing then a simple volt meter and a $15 O2 sensor will get you there. I woudn't have a problem buying used, but not many used widebands ever come up for sale.

I have no personal experience with it, yet, but have heard good reviews from a few people about this one.

i saw them too. looked very interesting but they are 160 bucks and up. and that's just for one side. i did mine on the cheap

i'm not using fuel injection. i'm just looking for a rich/lean indication at a given throttle position.

I use the Innovate and really like it. It has been a very useful tool tuning my car and I  can also data log and use the info to help tune from launch to finish line.  :ylsuper: :burnout:

Thanks for all the input guys.

I have a line on a used  FAST handheld unit for what seems like a good price.

Lots of options out there.

I am looking forward to trying it out and seeing if I can cure my rich idle condition once and for all!

Did you put a sensor on each hedder or just the one side and adjust equally?

Just installed 1 sensor on the drivers side - and tuned the car off of that. I coulld understand perhaps running a sensor on both sides but only to monitor possibly a lean bank. Most of these kits only run 1 sensor. I probly know a dozen street/ strip guys that run this Innovate kit all like it. In fact the dyno tune dude that I have been talking to and will probably take the car to also requests that he have access to one sensor bung.
