Hey there,
Installing a new engine harness on a 73 Challenger with a swapped out 440 4bbl. So far, I'm pretty confident in the placement of most of the wires. Just a few things I have questions about, but first, here is pic of the harness I ordered from Roseville Auto (thanks guys!):
1) all right, first, where does this brown wire connect (Brown wire is on the far left of the pic)? The wiring schematic I have says it goes to the 'windshield washer,' does that make sense?
Brown wire is on the far left of the pic.
2) At the Starter Relay, the wire attached at the bottom right of the relay in this photo. Where does that go, neutral safety switch? I don't have this in the new harness (unless it is the wire from question 1) and would therefore have to keep this section of the old harness intact, correct?
3) What the hell is this and where does it disapear to once it goes through the firewall? Another one I assume I'll have to keep from old harness.
4) If I am correct, this is the oil pressure switch and I will hook the gray wire from the new harness into this position. Does that sound legit?
5) In the current (old) setup, there is a separate ground coming from the harness and hooked up below the ignition coil. Is this necessary?
6) Finally, on the alternator I am going to hook up the wires from the new harness from top to bottom (or left to right in this pic) Blue, Green, then Black. Is this correct?
I'm new to this whole thing (older vehicles and wiring in general), so any insight would help. Thanks in advance.
Alex
