Scott, great going on the rust repair.  I like the way you work.  When you start cleaning up components I have a rather large bead blast cabinet in my shop that you can use.  I didn't note that you have one when I was at your place.  Let me know if you need to use mine.  PK

Yeah for sure, I'm just dying to get in that shop to see all the neat stuff I know is in there!

I got rid of the blast cabinet that I had, too small, polluted my whole garage every time I used it....PITA.
I'm slowing down a little, got to get some balance back, you know single Dad, yard is a mess, bla bla bla.
If I don't check myself I'd be in the garage 24/7.

Thanks for the offer, I'll be in touch.

Well, even though the weather is still awesome, summer is over and the kid is back in school.
Free time for dad means back to the garage!

Since my legs are fresh I decided to get the most dreaded part out of the way.....
THE UNDERCOATING!
$80 worth of stripper, some steel wool and a sh*tload of elbow grease.

Wow!  That looks great!

You must have some huge elbows!

So, what kind of stripper did you use?

Scott, that's a great looking bottom side and looks very solid.    Buff it a little and clear coat.

I use aircraft stripper. Talstrip is my favorite but I used some Kleanstrip this time, no odor which makes it nice!

I love the chemicals, no noise, no dust, once you get your system down it goes pretty fast!

How many hours do you think it took to strip the bottom side if the car? How did you neutralize the stripper? I used a propane torch from Wal-mart and a 1.5" rigid paint scraper.

I think I probably have ten hours in the bottom, the engine compartment and inner fender wells took almost as long!

I use an industrial strength cleaner/degreaser, it's almost like acetone in a high pressure spray can, it evaporates really quick. Works great for blasting leftover crud out of hard to get spots.
It says on the stripper that water will do the job.

I tried the torch for a minute......wasn't having any fun at all!
