   That was my exact thought!!! 

So, looks like you had black body side moulding, V5X.  Finding original ones are kinda hard and finding them in good shape is even harder I would imagine.  I have them on my car and it messes up any stripe you would want to add later on.  Actually I believe from the factory the front fender louvers (Rallye car) were deleted because of the body side molding.

I say white longitudinal, non-R/T stripe.

I had a guy that wanted to sell me some 17" torque thrusts cheap. I ended up not buying them. He now has a set of American Racing wheels with bf Goodrich g- force TA tires. They are off a mustang. Like new condition. I can get them for $450. They are 17x7 wheels. 42mm offset with 245-45/17 tires on all 4. I know I would need spacers, not sure what size. The wheels are  Are-106 and look similar to torque thrust II's. Will they look stupid with a big wheel and low profile tire? The deal is tempting. God I hate being such a cheapskate! Pros and cons? Anyone want chime in?

245/45/17s looks just fine on these cars. Some people prefer the old-school taller sidewall, but not me.

I've got 235/45/17 and 265/40/17 TorqueThrusts and I have gotten many compliments on how good they look on the car.

I do have spot-on offsets, so I have a nice dish in the back which helps a lot. (I believe mine are 17x8 and 17x9)

That would be what would kill the deal for me... wheels would be a little narrow. It's a muscle car. It needs fatter wheels in the back, IMHO.

I would go w/the stock '72-'74 Rallye strobe stripes and install those fender scoop things.

I'm not a fan of the wrong year stripe on the wrong year car.  Except hockey sticks on '72-'74 'Cudas.

Now if it was up to ME, I would replace the vinyl top with a black one and and put on black strobe stripes.

Since the top is in like new condition I don't want to change it. I agree that black would look better. I am going to hold off on the stripe for now. I can't decide what I want right now. Im in no real hurry.

I think it looks pretty clean as-is.

However, now that I think about it, even w/the white roof, a black strobe stripe on the sides will still look killer!

If you have any leftover paint, I'd find an R/T hood for that thing.  Gives it a really aggressive look IMHO.
