1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

If the cowl and radiator support numbers DO NOT MATCH, couldn't the curent owners just say that they were replaced b/c of an accident???

I mean, AMD makes replacements of those items.

it appears that the donor body was a factory a/c car, but the dataplate doesn't call out H51.

Yup, you're right:  http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1970-DODGE-CHALLENGER-R-T-440-SIX-PACK-/200765012391?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item2ebe86f9a7#v4-39

However, again, the owners could claim that they replaced the firewall b/c of rust/accident.  Sure, it's a re-body, but it may be a bit hard to prove given a plausible defense???

kudos! glad to see someone is gonna pay the price for deception!

i won a dash pad off of ebay to use as a core when i was restoring my '72. i didn't want to give away
my original pad. when it arrived, it still had the VIN tag on it. '72 340 car. so i popped it off and in
the tool box it went. it's a nice conversation piece but i would never think of using it. i like driving my
cars too much to be sitting behind bars.

Also may be hard tp prove who actually did the tag swap.It would suck for current owner if he had no knowledge of the vin swap and just had a $50,000 car confiscated!I guess theat`s why they say-buyer beware.
