I am going to install the Rear Sway on my 72 Barracuda this weekend.
This car has never had a Rear Sway on it.
I gathered up all the parts shown in the first photo and feel I am ready to go.
I am looking for any tips to help this project go smoothly.
The first photo is my Pink Barracuda with parts, the other 3 photos are from other threads on this site for reference and help.

My first concern is if I have the 8 holes in my frame for the metal screws to go into that hold the frame part of the system.
If they are not factory drilled, then I have to guess where to attached the brackets to.
I know the brackets are v-shaped because the rails get narrower, so I guess I can look at others photos and slide the brackets along to find a good point.
Otherwise measurements would be great to get from you all.

Looking at some photos and thinking things through, I think the car frame needs to be raised and held up, I can use my lift or jackstands.

The brackets need to slip under the axle and sit on top of the leaf springs. Does everything line up with grooves or holes or do I have to be concerned
about my axle position on the leafs and getting it back correctly to where it use to sit.

Any help and photos is appreciated!
Thanks
Trev

Just found these pics I took a while back.
I have the holes, I think I use the bottom two as the other persons photo shows one hole showing above his bracket.
It looks like my U-Bolts are long enough to slip in the spring bracket piece.

The frames are dimpled where the holes should go if your holes are not there .
The 4 holes in your frame should line up . I bet you use the holes widest spread not the bottom 2 .

The frame brackets will alighn themselves if you attach the end links to the spring brackets first.  The brackets and the frame are tapered so you really can't get them in the wrong spot.

The bolt through the spring pak will engage the hole in the center of the bracket.  Just bolt it down and you're good to go.

I have a question since I will be doing the same thing at some point in the future. The black brackets on the floor in the first picture, are they the same as the brackets on a non-rear sway bar rear end? I ask because the ones I have are way beyond repair and hope to use the ones currently on my rear end, just havent crawled under to check for sure.

Also looking at those pics I hope my exhaust doesn`t get in the way!  :dunno:

Cars without a rear swaybar wouldn't have had those brackets.  The rear axle would just sit right on the springs.

Barracudadan, I have a spare set of brackets that need cleaning up and painting if you need.
Also, just the bar as well.
The frame brackets are rusted and worn out, so those are garbage!
Let me know.

Did you try the bar itself in there?  Doesn't the bar angle towards the front a little after getting past the frame?  If it does hit, it shouldn't be a big deal to have a new set of over axle pipes bent.  You might even be able to cut the pipes and install a short piece to get them back a little bit more.

The bar will not fit with the bushing set as a whole.
The exhaust would have to be modified and I have sold the car and was doing this final thing for the new owner or
got the car for his 50th birthday.
I let the car go as a favor for his wife and was easy since I had no attachment to it yet.
Thanks for all your help.

Thanks for the offer Trevor, I was mistaken my brackets can be saved. It is the lower piece that the shock bolts to that are toast, if I blasted them I would have nothing but rust-n-dust when i`m through. When I tackle this project I got a bad feeling my exhaust will get in the way too. It is a kit from Pypes that I used was yours Pypes as well?

A question to those who have done this, what screws or bolts did you use to mount the frame brackets to the frame?  That's the only part I don't have yet and I didn't know if there was a particular self tapping screw to use (and where to get them), or if most pass a bolt through the bracket & frame and just bolt the bracket down that way.

Thanks, Jim

I have bolted trough the frame rail with a longer bolt but I am not sure this is the best way as the bar could work its way loose , there is no sleeve inside the frame rail using a larger self tapping screw is what the factory used , I believe with a 1/2 head
