Thanks Dutch and Gran.  I will take more pics as I get everything in my (half garage) full of boxes / parts sorted out and map out my start point... Body work done, but will try to remember to take pictures of what I do as I do it.

"usraptr" = United States raptor - bird of prey = United States Bald Eagle.  FYI, somebody else thought of it first so I had to drop the "O" in raptor.

Welcome Hud!

Very nice car!

What are the Powertrain plans for it?

I'm a little torn on this...  I already have a 53 Desoto Hemi'  and like how those can be built and most of all how much they please the eye when you lift the hood / very unique looking engines.. But I will most likely scrap the idea of using the old hemi at least for now because so much of the car has to be changed to accommodate it.

Realistically, I love the 440 mag in my 73 Charger so I will most likely just get another 440 and build it for the Cuda.  I already have a 4 speed just don't have it in at the moment, and rear end is 8 3/4s.  I'm not in too big of a hurry because I'm leaving out for Afghan in Oct for a year.. This will be a long project...

May start building the 440 now and the Hemi when i get home.

Welcome Hud!

Gorgeous body, what a place to begin! I'm ex-Navy, have a good tour,  that 'cuda will be waiting for the finishing touches when you return.  I vote for the 440 engine if that means anything. Since you already have one there should be less of a curve with the 'cuda build. Looking forward to watching this car come back to life!

I bet you could sell that Desoto hemi to a lucky gent restoring a firedome or fireflyte.

Appreciate it Laurie and Gran

I will most likely use the Desoto engine for a ratrod later on down the road, or garage ornament. I think a 440 would be best,  I don't want to have to cut, bend,  or alter anything i don't have to.  The car doesn't have to be 100% original for me but I do want it to maintain some Cuda integrity lol...

I appreciate the luck on my upcoming deployment. This will be my 7th in 10 years.  Maybe things will slow down for the USMC for the next 9, when i get back.

Cheers,

Errrr,

Only 3 of them have been combat deployments, and they were all Iraq.  1 was South America, 1 Africa, 1 South Korea, and then this will be my first to Afghan.  I stay busy regardless lol.

Lol when I find that person, I'd sell it to assist in a 440 build, but if not or until then I'm content with using it as a garage ornament.

3 combat deployments is still an awsome accomplishment  :2thumbs:   I guess the USMC still likes to send you all over the globe in short order. I got to see quite a bit of the planet in the USMCR!! Japan, Dominican republic, Half of the United States. I was in the WAARNG when we deployed to Iraq. I am out now have been since 2008. That will make quite a nice garage ornament I have a 1969 440 block that was factory installed in a 1970 car as a ornament for my garage. Hope I never have to use it as a replacement block for my 70 block.

Osan? Pohang?  Any RONs Wake Island or Atsugi while you were in the 'hood?
I was a C130 load, loved hauling the MEUs, funny/polite/professional group.

Love your idea for a ratrod too.
