Pics from Fathers Day car show in Hyannis
« on: June 17, 2012 - 07:53:24 PM »
Be gentle, I'm not a professional photographer. Good show today, 350+ cars, 60K people (or so they say). I'll be honest, there were a couple of cars there that if I owned them they would have stayed home. Just too close to the public; little Johnny and his dripping ice cream cone, the SUV sized baby carriages, gazillions of dogs on leashes trying to pee on tires, people walking between the tightly parked cars with their cell phones, cameras, purses brushing against the cars, yikes. Guy who owned the 65 Barracuda said he bought the body 25 years ago for $100. Guy who flawlessly restored the 57 Nomad couldn't have been any prouder of a child graduating MIT, the Shelby GT350 lives in my hometown and was a Harr Ford race car, fully documented, and it would have stayed home. That's just me. 70 hemi Cuda and 69 Superbird are owned by a body shop in Hyannis, these guys might come in handy someday! He said the cuda was 1 of 4, does that sound right? Both numbers matching. 70 440 Chally was simply splendid except for the NAPA battery. 32 Caddy V12 complete with rumble seat, luggage and hide-a-way golf clubs. Loved the old Dodge with the record player in front, hi-fi of course. GTX was wonderfully restored as well. LOTS of restored pick up trucks, fake Shelby's and fake SS's, and a fake Judge. There were a couple of real SS's and a RS/SS who went largely ignored by an ignorant public. Honestly, I think 3% of the people who attended really knew what they were looking at, the other 97% were simply pandering to dad or it was too cold for the beach. A great time as always, hope you guys enjoy my annual attempt at car photography, pics in the next post.

Thanks guys! I know I'm too close to the cars when I take a pic, there's just so many people if I backed away I'd never get a shot.
