Finally, got to drive the Challenger to somewhere! 7 years of blood, sweat, and tears became worth it. Took it friday night to Blowing Rock, about 30 mins away. Pretty nervous going through town, praying all would go well. Hit every red light, but it ran like a champ! Went out there for some barbecue, cause in NC, barbecue love is born into our DNA
Got a compliment by the cashier while getting gas, and got plenty of looks. Then today, I took it to church, which is about a 45 minute drive, curvy mountain roads. After church, everybody stood around and gawked and asked and said "did you paint that?" got plenty of compliments and even had a guy who had to sit in for a few minutes. From there, took it across the TN line to get some gas (cheaper) and a guy out there said "man that thing sounds nice. Whats that got under the hood? Get on it when you leave!" Drove back home turning heads along the way, even made a guy who was fishing by the river, stand up and watch it go down the road. Took it to the Blue Ridge Parkway for some pics close to the house...there was some bikers there who had stopped at the overlook. One came over and said how glad he was to see a guy my age working on a car like that instead of this ricer business. Another guy came over and started talking about a 71 RT he had, top banana yellow, said he sold it two years ago. Took it back home with a big grin on my face
(although when I turned onto my driveway it started where it wouldn't idle again. Like the carb keeps getting clogged or it aint getting gas, but that is the only trouble I had with it the whole time. It did that a while back, and I put a new fuel filter on it, got my timing pretty close, and cleaned out the carb. So idk, I'll look at it, clean the carb again and see whats causing it?).....All in all, it was great. Had my brother setting beside me the whole time, had my buddy ride in it and he talked about how he had to have one now, and turned countless heads. Glad to finally be a part of the "driving" MOPAR fam! Lots of work to go, but gonna enjoy the heck out of it this summer! Pics below on the Blue Ridge Parkway by my house.
