Hi Dave.   Well...  I've looked and searched every link you post. Your website.  All I find is a few restoration products.   You copy factory decals.     Sell a few parts.     Why do you make prototypes, And what do you make? What do you make them out of ?  Your factory based restorations are great to look at! Beautiful too!   But in the end, As close as you think you can get to factory....   It's still just my beginning. The factory is the starting line not the finish to me. And a lot of others.   It's where I begin.  And there's a place for all original stuff in this hobby. But to me it's a very dry,Stale existence copying and just reproducing.  I need to stretch my wings a lot more than that.      So I get into the extreme custom end... There's more modern suspension and  modern technology upgrades for these cars than ever before...

But I do use the same products sometimes. When I do... I prefer Eastwood. They have everything I need. And so far, Their stuff has worked awesome.  What makes your products better ?    Why should I use ECS instead of Eastwood?  What do you  sell that they don't?   Do you produce replacement sheet metal/glass that's better than AMD?    I don't see any prototypes of anything...   You assure me that your contributions "far exceed" simply inventing new products....     Looks like you got a soft spot for four doors too.  So it's all making a lot more sense to me now.

If this hobby was about making it all original. It would all be over by now. All the cars would be done.  No room to dream.  No more hotrodding...     No custom anything.    That to me is a very boring place.   But to you... A perfectly factory restored car is the holy grail. To me it's not.

Eh, to each their own, that's what makes this an interesting world...   :grinyes:  Everyone has their likes and dislikes.  Whatever flips your cookie.

I do like the idea of the El Camino, no trunk space in these cars!  Would call it, "El Cudamino"!  :icon16:

Ok...   Well...   *sigh*.   I'm wrong. 100% wrong.  I just couldn't get out of my head enough to see it.  You've done more to save these cars than I ever have.  And I sincerely thank you.  What makes your four door different than my vision?  Nothing. Not one darn thing.  In my close mindedness I couldn't see it. Blinded by my own ignorance because it didn't look like what I wanted it to.   And I'm sorry.  There's certainly room here for the both of us. And I look forward to your progress with the whole thing.

I really am in the wrong on this. And I hope you can accept my apologies.

Nah, would have to be called the Rampage as they had a smaller version of that when they were making the Colt and  D50 pick up.

Hey Dave, I just came across something on facebook.  Are you trying to copy this guy or something?  Or at least a version of?

thats the longest bilboard ever!  :stirpot:

As much as I can appreciate the talent it takes to make something like this, I didnt like when Dodge made the charger a four door and dont care for seeing a classic made that way.

good luck with your build

I thoroughly enjoyed the discourse between Dave and Robert. Both had well articulated points of view and in the end both adjusted their positions. I am so tired of discussions that start out with a difference of opinion that degenerate into name calling and worse.

Well done guys, let's see more of that style of airing differences - it's partly why I think this is the best Board I've seen on any subject!

Well it's not my cup of tea per say . Meaning I have no interest in owning one or have no desire to build one if I had unlimited funds etc.... It's kinda in the same catagory as the 70 Challenger station wagon? But I do admire the craftsmanship and skills in the build. Sure if someone "overhauled "my car and did that to it ya sure I'd be pissed but it's his car, his money, his time. To each his own! The world would be a pretty boring place if we were all the same , no?

 :iagree:
I think it`s pretty neat, it would get boring to look at only OE restored Hemicudas all the time.

Hi Dave,

Interesting thread. I find it fascinating that this Concept Vehicle is being fabricated.
Hopefully the masses will be able to appreciate the "What If" status that this four door will propagate.
I hope to see it in person.

I am curious to see what the door panels will look like. Will the rear panels mimic the original design? Can you describe what the current idea is?

After a long time away from the car hobby, I have been catching up with my reading. I am glad that I saw this.

BS41HOB100000 is the VIN number.

 ;)

Dave,
I am curious about your choice of the sequence number. Did you decisively select not to use 100001?
Did you find that 0B100001 actualy had a record at the DMV?

Have you given any thought as to the interior code? Is there possibly a Data Plate designed or on the planning board? I think it would be an interesting addition to the project.

Ola

In my research of the Early E-Bodies, 0B100003 is the lowest V.I.N. that I found to have actually left Hamtramk.
I have not been able to locate, nor secured information, of 0B100001 and 0B100002.
0E100001 and 0E100002 (LA plant) are known cars and have records at the DMV.

Thank you Dave.

I decided on using all zeros because there would be no way that another car could have shared that number.  The good news is that we are going to be able to register the car with that number.

I can completely understand that. I was getting hopeful that you may have found evidence of the two missing cars.

Since you research early E Body VIN's I thought you might be interested to know that Steve Been owns a 1970 Yellow Cuda with VIN BS23VOE100004.  It is the first Six Pack Cuda ever built from any assembly plant.
I have herd of this car. I recall that he was looking for any information on it's history and pictures from the late 69 auto shows on the West coast. It would be great to talk to Mr. Been about his BS23V0E car. How may I get in touch with him? I could call you.

I suspect that the SPD is 815 or 818. The early Los Angeles assembly plant cars have different dates then the Hamtramck cars. It would be great to see 0E100004's data plate.

One of the interesting oddities of the early built cars is a  "JOB #" stamped there. I am interested to see what Mr. Been's `cuda440-6 has.

With all due respect, I think that 0B100004 would have been the first `cuda 440-6 built from either assembly plant. It also has the (accepted) distinction of being the first E-Body convertible built. I would agree with you that 0E100004 is the very first `cuda440-6 built at the Los Angeles assembly plant (0E).

I do apologize for side tracking your thread. Please forgive me. We can discuss early built cars another time and place. I look forward to reading more about your Concept Vehicle.

Hey Ola, not 0B1 car, this is the first 1B1 car. Just in case you didn't see this years ago when I found it in a field.   :2thumbs:
