Hey Ola, not 0B1 car, this is the first 1B1 car. Just in case you didn't see this years ago when I found it in a field.   :2thumbs:

Interesting.  So it would appear that 5, identical 383 Barracuda convertibles were produced early in the 1971 model year.

BH27L1B100002 was identically equipped and was parted out years ago
BH27L1B100005 was also identically equipped and became the notorious BS27N1B100005 with a few more options on it

I wonder if there are any more identical ones in the sequence? 100006 -on

Wonder if those were the ones that were the pre production runs that supposedly supervisors did? :clueless:

Interesting....I also wonder where this car went. It sat in a field with another 71 Gran Coupe HT behind it along with a bunch of other cars. Owner wouldn't even consider selling, then they all disappeared.   :clueless:

Dave,

What was the intended purpose of the rubberized material that was on the inside of the quarter panels?  Sound deadening I am assuming?

Ooops.  So you did, Dave.  Sorry, I must have missed it.   :bricks1:  :banghead:  A lot has been going on with the family the last couple days.   So is that the primer color or is the car going to be white?

Hi Dave,

Thank you for letting me share some info (off topic) on this thread.

...There are also weird rear valance bracing and other small details that never made it on the "regular" production vehicles.  I will see if I can get a picture of his fender tag and post here.  Thanks Ola! :2thumbs:

I do believe that I am familure with some of these oddities.

I am actually thinking of starting a new thread on the early built E-Bodies. Maybe in a couple of weeks.

Yes. 1B100001 - 1B100007 left the factory all the same.

Here is a quote from a mutual friend of ours from western Canada:
"The owner at that time knew quite a bit about the sister cars and it seems most of them were sold new in Western Canada. Cars #100001 and 100004 were still in the Calgary area according to the owner of 100007."

Here are a few photos I dug up that show the C Pillars that Steve Been fabricated with the English Wheel.  Both panels started out as a flat piece of metal stock.  Also pictured are the Quarters before they were welded in place.

Steve is the Master. Nice fabrication work.

Wow, fantastic work, from flat metal stock?  Great job!

I'm going to have to watch a video on how to fabricate and such for body panels from flat metal stock.  Would love to build a 1/10 scale RC car body from flat aluminum stock.

Cool thread.  Perhaps you can have wood grain billboard stripes made similar to the station wagons.   ;)
