Thanks guys........ It seems the "DODGE" script is also supposed to be on the deck lid? His wasn't on the car when he got it........ Aside from the modifications Hoss wants to do, I want to make the car as OEM correct as possible...... I think I'll do the black accent detail from Dave P. at PCG.....

Yes, '71 was the only year for the DODGE script on the decklid - all other years had 'Challenger' or nothing.  The correct emblem is a bit hard to find, but they are available.

If you're ordering from PCG, and haven't yet done the headlight & front of hood trim blackout, Dave makes a nice kit with the correct tape for that application too.  I've used a few over the years.

Progress....... Got the driver's door on yesterday, the mirror turned out not to be as bad as it started.. I just made the hole a wee bit bigger so the bezel would have a little bit more room once threaded on the adjuster..... I also installed a pusher fan for added protection. Hoss wanted it for those times when he's stuck in bumper to bumper traffic on cruise nights and such. I'll be getting more of the gold cad. bolts for the grille header. He's not looking for a 100% OEM restoration, he likes a little bling. I try to counsel and advice so it's not overboard.. lol

I'll get another door VIN decal from ECS.

Anyone know of a source for this? 1971 Dodge Challenger deck lid "DODGE". Apparently '71's had the emblem back there with NO "R/T" script...

Thanks in advance.....

Yeap, I agree... But, I have to try to get the car up and going before the beginning of Oct. for him. Since I wasn't part of the paint process, some things are out of my control. I didn't want to take the screws that attach to the latch at the risk of chipping the paint on the door around them and then, that would have been another can of worms.......... If this was my car, there would have been a lot of other things I would have done from the beginning.....

Re: '71 v-code Challenger R/T resto... console top plate overlay 8/26

Hey gang..
Just got a REM console overlay for the console top plate and attempted to put it on........... Screwed it up big time....... I did what I always do with decals, spray glass cleaner on the item lightly and then apply the decal, slightly shifting it into position. I squeeze the excess water/cleaner solution out along with air bubbles.. No problem... This item on the other hand, didn't work out that way. It was like the cleaner totally dissolved the adhesive, there wasn't anything on the edges and hence, the decal would not adhere to the top plate..... Are these REM units such that they need to be GINGERLY position dry?

:iagree: DMT uses the 3M stuff and it does work really well.  :2cents:

Added: I have to talk to Dave at PCG tomorrow about my gauges and I'll ask him, but I think he is useing 3m for the door wood overlays too.

Re: '71 v-code Challenger R/T resto... getting her out on the road 9/15

Got Hoss' 71 out on the road for the frst long trip. After working on it some more ( still have some little things here and there ), we decided to put the hood down, head to the gas station, fuel her up and go for it... He is wishing to put some highway and stop/go miles on it. Off we went with me in tow in the Daytona. She performed fairly well, but have some tweaking to do here and there in terms of timing, idling, kickdown, etc. But, she went the 60+ miles road trip and did it !! So, I feel with confidence Hoss will be able to enjoy her.

Edit: I want to extend a big "THANK YOU" to all those that have helped me in this learning E-body experience...
