Headliner bow questions.
« on: June 25, 2012 - 03:24:58 PM »
Ok... this isn't a question about where the bows go in the car, but a question about the bow design.   When I bought my car (1971 Barracuda), I only had three bows so I bought a set of 5 because I had trouble sourcing the two or one I needed with someone willing to sell them individually.   The set I bought have straight ends that are placed into the bow clips.  That is all fine and dandy except it appears that my car does not have the slots for the clips to slide into!   The three bows that I got with the car, actually have 90 degree bends at the tips that fit perfectly into the holes provided in the car.   Any time I see bows for sale, they all tend to say that they are for 70 to 74 Barracudas and all are straight tipped.  My questions are, why don't I have the slots for the bow clips and what bows should I be asking for? :dunno:

Here is a picture of a couple sets of the two styles.

I'm familiar with the '70 bow styles having done a '70 Challenger, but we helped Topcat last weekend on his '71 Barracuda and he has the ones with the right angle at each end.  In each spot where a bow would be inserted, the car had three holes in a triangle pattern to give you a choice of fit and tension.  It sounds like you need to get some more bows with the bent ends.

So the bows with the angles are 70 specific or at least early e-body specific since Topcat and I have '71s?   I just want to make sure I ask the right questions to make it easier when I start hunting for the bows I am missing.
