Show me Pics of Patina Running E Bodies!
« on: June 27, 2012 - 10:20:22 PM »
I love seeing old cars that look stock, body good, pretty straight, but have that faded, chalky paint, not much rust.
.
Never see many E Bodies that way...at least one's that are running.
They're all shiney and new is all I see.

A guy over on Moparts built a Challenger convert that he wouldn't be afraid to drive every day.  He didn't use a high gloss paint on it and he left it a little thin in certain areas.  He even aged the engine comp decals.

A couple years ago at the Mopar Nats, there was a 69 Coronet convert that looked like it was fresh out of the barn.  It had the dual scooped hood with old Hemi callouts on it.  One of the emblem pins was broken and it was hanging at an angle.  It had a 440 in it I think but man did it attract some attention parked infront of Burger King on Brice Road.

Is that a custom license plate number  ^^^ ?

Here is one of  my favorite Challengers ever.  :)

I think mine qualifies.  It's pretty "survivor" save for a glossy 10 foot paint job.

Man, the more I look at that pic the more it reminds me I have to paint my house!  :smilielol:

1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

Fellow member Black71 (Matt) and I have been convoying to the local car shows here on the weekends. His challenger is about as original as you can get--except for his new tires and rims. I swear his car gets more attention than mine just because it has that right out of the barn patina to it.     :banghead:          At most shows we are the only E-bodies there so it is quite a contrast. It gets a lot of comments and complements and a whole lot of folks that want to now if it is for sale.     :nono:

It's a Challenger.   :roflsmiley:  :stirpot:  :poopoke:

Just joking!  :grinyes:  :'(

I love the way your Cuda is set up with the fat rear tires and nice stance.

Actually, your Cuda look VERY cool before the new paint.  I remember seeing pics of it and loved the rough and rowdy look to it as it looked like it was driven and enjoyed.  :grinyes:

I think the appeal people have for cars like this is that when they see them they think "Hey I could afford that" or it reminds them of a ride they once owned. You know the car it wasn`t perfect but you loved it all the same we all have memories of that car.
Cars like this still seem financially reachable unlike the high dollar rides you see everywhere. Me I always find myself walking past seas of Corvettes new and old at shows and always look twice at the car in primer that still needs a little work. Now if there were some early Corvettes in primer maybe i`d stop and look!

There is nothing wrong with high dollar rides either, I do stop and appreciate the shiny cars too!

:iagree:  I can appreciate high dollar cars but they are made of "unobtainium" unless you have the $$$, which I don't.  In the same sense you had mentioned, I pay would pay more attention to an older more attainable/affordble car then a brand spanking new version to some degree.
