Why Ebods? Why not, all others are over played, MUstangs and camaros especially. They are everywhere. I have seen two Cudas in Colorado in the 24 years that I grew up here. When I saw the first I was 10 and  riding in the car with my Dad. The cuda was a  Bronze color (gross color) But my heart seemed to stop as it passed us. I turned too my dad to see him smile as he also was watching the car. I told him I wanted a car just like that one, he said 'cudas are a cool cars.

Anyways I was always looking for a cuda for sale couldn't find one in Colorado. I was on vacation with my dad in up-state New york when I saw a sassy grass green cuda, with the ralley hood and "go wing" (Mean looking, Bad A$$ car)  sitting infront of a body shop with a sign on it saying "FOR SALE" I was all excitied. My dad told me he would buy it for me I just had to drive it and pay for the gas to get it home. I was heart broken due to the fact I was 15 years old and was working part time at wendys not much cash. I have been out to New york every year since and drive by the same spot where the car was sitting hoping it would be there (no joy) the car was gone after that year.

Now aftyer that I was really wanting a Cuda and the show Nash Bridges didn't help out one bit. Now I'm married and own my own home and have a job I love and pays ok I was starting to branch out in search of a cuda although I didn't have much to spend, I found my dream car  a 1971 Cuda, it was in Chicago 1400 plus miles from me. I bought the car and drove straight there after work at 0300 am. I picked up the car and drove straight back. Now I need to start working on it to get it to look like the Cuda I saw in up-state New York.

Oh yeah my dad is excited about the car also.

I agree with Sal-Chichon, even down here in New Zealand Mustangs are everywhere.
On Trade me (NZ's answer to eBay) there are ALWAYS atleast 5-10 Mustangs for sale, that's heaps for down here!!
Plus there are days when the Mustang count for sale passes 20+. That's not including the ones driving around.

So far I have seen about 7-10 MoPars for sale on Trademe since I joined, coming up to two Years.
I have only seen 2-3 Challengers driving around down here,  2 'Cudas, 2 Chargers and a handful of other body styles.

Rare as hens teeth one would say. :-)

The thing I like most is when having talks with brand-X guys, they are all talking about 350's and 351-w then they ask what I own I tell them in a calm manner..."70 Challenger R/T" they all kind of become silent and say, "Oh yeah, sweeeet" then they carry on about Ford vs Chev.
The point being MoPar has respect, you say MoPar they leave you alone. We let Ford and Chev do the bltching while while sit in our throne!!

While I like the occasional Mustang and Camaro or Chevelle... I've just always been attracted to Cudas, Challengers, Chargers, GTXes and Road Runners. Why? Partly because of their design, partly because most people don't have them. Being different and not going the way of the crowd is something I like to do. I also play guitar and the same philosophy follows there. I don't own Gibson and Fender guitars... I own two Parker Fly's and an ESP. I don't have a Fender or Marshall amp, I have a Mesa/Boogie in a custom color with chrome diamond plate sides on my 4x12 speaker cabinet. :)

I don't currently own a Mopar (I drive a 2004 Acura, heh), but in the near future I hope to own a 68 Charger/GTX/Roadrunner or a 70 Cuda or Challenger. After I get a house with a two car garage, I'm going to need a second car I think. My choices always sway as to what I like best. For years I was on a 1970 AAR Cuda kick. Then I went into a 68 Charger phase. Now I find 70 Challengers to be the hot thing. But, nomatter what I get, even in the "what is THAT guy driving?" world of vintage Mopars, I would still want to be different and do a custom job. Shave the door handles, get it nice and low with some fairly large rims, trick out the interior (faux wood grain is TERRIBLE).

Digging through this site and the DodgeCharger.com forums make me want a Mopar SO badly. Hopefully in the next year or so I can start posting pictures and start asking questions about my real flesh and blood car. :)

I never got to see many of them growing up in Nebraska but a few of my friends ended up buying them one buddy had 2 black 70 Challenger's and they looked fast just sitting on the street. The one I wanted to buy was Vit. C Orange 70 440 Challenger RT but it was wreaked in a police chase and I never got to buy it. Then came along 2 70 Cuda's one a 383 and the other a 340. I never did manage to buy one till I moved to IL. My first was a 71 Challenger RT with a 340 4-speed 323 sure grip. This set a whole chain of events which made me not want to own anything but Mopar's. I owned a 70 440-6 barrel 4-speed Cuda and I have never got over the crowds these cars draw at car shows. For me I sold my 68 RS Camaro I had owned for 13 years along with several 68 Firebirds, and a 71 Mach 1. I have never thought about going back and just love the style and the look of these E-body cars. I currently own a 70 Cuda 340 4-speed and a 71 Challenger RT and want to buy more if I can figure out how to afford to buy another.

I agree a lot with what's already been said.

I got my car because I always l knew that I wanted a muscle car, but I wanted one that had some handling.  That limited it for me to GM F bodies, Mustangs, and E bodies:  The Pony cars basically. Cougers, Javelins, etc are nice too, but there's something special about an E body.  Just the way it sits maybe, it's mean and fast looking sitting still.  Muscular lines, buttt up in the air like it's ready to launch.

Maybe because growing up we had some Mopars and got Mopar in my blood: '68 Plymouth Fury Wagon, '69 Chrysler Newport, '74 Chrysler Town & Country wagon, '76 Dodge Aspen.

Definately true:  there are a lot more Camaros and Mustangs on the street than you'll see Ebodies.

When you see a Camaro or Mustang, there's always that possibility of a straight 6 under the hood.  I saw a beefed up '68 Camaro with huge tires in the rear on nice Crager S/S rims and thought it looked really mean, but when I saw the single exhaust that wasn't loud I figured it to be a 6 cylinder!

Most E bodies roaming the street will more than likely have some sort of a V-8 under the hood.  This adds to the "muscle" in "muscle car".  Finding a Camaro or Mustang from the factory with a big block is not that common on the street, but if you see a '70-'71 Ebody there was a good possibility of a big block engine.
1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

I have always liked the E-Bodies ever since the movie Phantasm came out.  That was one of the meanest looking Cuda's.  My husband knows these cars like the back of his hand.  Back in the early 70's he had a 340 70 Cuda that he raced.  It ran 9.40's at 151mph and that was unheard of at that time.  He built this car himself in his 2 car garage.  We still have pictures of this Cuda with the front tires off the ground.  After he raced he got out of it because it cost so much and all you do is break things.  Then we got into showing our Cuda's in indoor car shows.  We took our 71 Curious Yellow Cuda to 15 shows and it won 15 Best Restored of all the shows.  We had a blast showing the car.  We met a lot of great people.  It is really kinda sad how a lot of people have never even seen these cars before.   To us there is not another car out there that can touch a Cuda or Challenger as far as fantastic looks go.  We love all Mopars but our passion is the E-Bodies.

Pink Ice...your so on my page.....Phantasm back in 1979 is what hooked me on 71 cuda's....The black cuda was forever set in my mind as a young kid.  I searched for over decade to locate the original car from the first film with no luck (Still hasn't been found).  In any event, your husband built my ultimate dream car....I feel fortunate to own the car of my dreams....but the film is what started my obsession with the 71 cuda!  And your collection of cuda's and challengers from what I have seen are awesome!

Triple Black Hemi,
We are so glad you ended up with one of our 71 Cuda's.  It could not have gone to a better more deserving person.  I got to drive Pink Ice today.  I drove her about 20 miles and it was awsome.  She sounds wonderful.  Hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving.

I came home from the hospital in a '68 Charger summer of 1971.  I wish that I could recall being lulled to sleep my second day in the world by a chrysler big block. Growing up, I was an understudy to my uncle who had a petty blue '72 Charger 340 magnum with hideaway headlights and cragar SS wheels. I was genetically predetermined to buy my own Charger. This course was altered when a friend of my uncle took me for a ride in his '71 cuda the summer I turned 13. I slid into the bucket seat and peered over the bulging performance hood. He twisted the key and the needle on the Sun super tach bounced a nervous synchronized rhythm with the dual four  barrel fed 440. After easing out of the drive, he dropped the hammer on this v-8 apocalypse. The 50 series tires squealed smoked with protest as we were rocketed down the two lane state highway. As the tach climbed he grabbed the pistol grip shifter and slammed second gear completely altering the course of my life. I was hooked. My first  car was a 383 "70 bench seat column shift 'cuda. Since then I have owned 4. I currently have a '70 440 that is in my shop waiting on my 4 year old son and a '70 rt/se challenger for me to race and cruise as soon as I get the resto done.

Turns out I've always liked them.  I remember one time at K-mart back in the 70's when I was a young kid it seemed like I spent hours picking out the perfect SST car (the ones with the big wheels in the center and a zip strip to get the wheel spinning) and after going back through my toys say 5 years ago, it turns out the SST I picked was a blue/green Cuda!  I remember some of the Cuda funny cars too as a kid.

I've had my 70 Cuda since high school in the 80's, my 70 R/T since college (late 80's, early 90's) and now my '71 R/T my wife found July of 2005.  Maybe this is a pattern, I buy one every decade, let's see how long that keeps up :-).

To me, the question isn't why an ebody, it's why the hell didn't I get a HEMI EBODY!.  Is it just me, or do you guys while driving along just kick yourself for not getting a hemi car...

Well, hate to say my first car was a ford fairmont with a 302. :puke: (Family hand down thing) The best thing about that car was it was well balanced for jumping :naughty: didn't last long though!  Mopar has always been my obsession, even though my dad was a GM guy and hated Mopar.  One of my buddies had a 72 cuda 318 that I loved.  He turned me onto a 318 duster for 300 bucks, and we had another buddy that was born bred Mopar.  In a small school of 300 or so, we were the "MOPAR BOYS" the only 3!  And thats what everyone called us, not our names...lol  Anyway,  My buddy decided to get married, and sold me the cuda for 300 bucks!  I later put a 360 in it and packed it full of all my possesions and drove it from Missoula, MT to Arkansas!  2000 miles in 33 hrs with no problems 'cept a flat tire and no sleep... :faint:  Then stupid me sold the car in 92 because of why???  Getting married!  A kid bought the car from me, hopefully he doesn't sell it for the same reason as the last 2 owners did!

Oh yeah by the way....My dad is a MOPAR guy now!!.... :naughty:
