so why did you chose cudas or challengers?  what was it about them that you like more than say camaros or mustangs?  its always interesting to see the reasons why someone choses to spend thousands of dollars on such a hobby.  what do you love most about your car?

Interesting question.  I would have to say it's their mean, agressive look.  I can't wait to get my hands on a 71 cuda...that's the ultimate for me.  Nothing looks tougher!

I sold the Chall , I was offered Too much $$$ for it , regretted selling it as I watched it drive away & was Immediatly searching for another Chall to replace it  , found it 6 months later & still own it , I don`t repeat my mistakes !!

MOPAR or NO car.    Why settle for second or third best when you can have the best.   It was cheap, and for sale.  Id rather have a 70 but for $750.00  I couldnt turn it down.

I consider myself to be pretty young. What I mean is, I never owned an E-body in school, I didn't grow up in the 70's and my buddy or a guy I knew never had one.
But my uncles did, and they were all Chevy guys except 1. And even with all the jokes back and forth between Chevy and Mopar, the one thing they all agreed on was that my uncle Mark's Cuda was the hands down fastest car ever.

When I started with cars it has always for the most part been Mopars. First learning that a 360 in a '77 Aspen can spank any of you buddies rides at the time was great, and then progressing to the Coronet I had.
I did have to sell it, and when the time came that I had the money, I began my search.

I looked at Chevelles, Montes, Camaros and even GTOs, but as I "researched" the E-bodies, I had to have it.
The fact that I have 1 of about 12 E-bodies in the area ( my brother has #2 ) makes it all the better.
When I first saw pics, I knew this was "the car".
Even though I still get A LOT of "nice Charger", I just grin knowing that I have one of the rarest cars in the town.
And there is a lot to be said about showing up to a car show and living in a major city and 2 other cars similar show up.

A couple of funny stories.  My brother has a 1969 Charger that is in really nice condition.  When I was in high school, my grandpa and I restored a 66 Impala SS.  My cousin always told me how much "cooler" my brothers car was compared to the impala.  Well, about a month ago, she (my cousin) saw my barracuda and now says how much more "cooler" it is than the Charger.  Something about the E-body does it!

And also, when I showed my girlfriend my car after I put the rallye hood on, she didn't like it.  She said it looked too mean!! :fire:  So I like it even better!! ;D

I started out looking for a 69 or 70 Charger. After probably 2 years of searching magazines and the internet, I came across alot of Challengers too. Somewhere along the line, my taste changed. I finally decided it was a Challenger or nothing. I guess the fact that they are kind of rare is nice too. You don't see many at cruise-ins.

When i moved to Alabama in early '74 i was still using a 20" bike. Back in NYC there was plenty of public transportation available so owning my own vehicle was never a concern. The only "cars" i was interested in were slot cars  I do remember the Sunday, Sunday, Sunday radio spots though :burnout: :burnout:
Anyways after several months down here i knew i needed a car so i would bike through all the neighborhoods looking for an older car and in the south in the early-mid seventies there were tons of choices - yes even a couple of real Hemi cars :ack: :dontknow:
The short of it is that while looking thru the neighborhoods, i happened on a used car lot one sunday that had what turned out to be my first Mopar/E-body and it was just the overall look of the car that i liked. I know it sounds weird but the one thing that flipped me was the hood. It was a 73 318 Rallye but i fell for it. The top pic was my first one; bottom pic is the one i have now - identical color schemes. Thanks, Dad :) Good bye 66 Mustang - Helloooooo Mopar :burnout: :burnout: :burnout:
