I think I got into mopars by chance.  My favorite car is a 64-65 GTO, but there are very few left as project cars that were in my budget.  Most of them that I saw were either way to expensive or complete basket cases.  When I went out looking for my first car I started looking for a bax Nova because they kind of looked like a little GTO to me, but even they were out of my range.  So I ended up with my 69 dart.  Then I started learning and reading about other mopars and jsut fell in love with them.  So when I saved up enough money to get a project car I was mostly looking at mopars and for a 64-65 GTO.  So I pretty much would have gotten any mopar or a GTO.  So after looking at a bunch of cars the best one I found was my 71 Challenger and it just started from there.  Now I eat, sleep, and breath E bodies. Cudas and challengers are now my second favorite car.  I still want to get a 65 GTO one day.

My father was a racecar driver in England in the late 60's and early 70's, so when he came to Canada in the early 70's, he was talking to a guy on the plane who had a Challenger.  Stuck driving sissy Brit cars til then, he decided to look into the whole Muscle Car craze of North America.  He bought a '72 Challenger, but dropped in a '70 340, high compression slugs, and warmed it over to around 350HP.  He had a reputation as THE street racer to beat, and could row that slap-stik like nobody's business.  I would go with him to the races, and we'll always play around in the Chally.  He NEVER lost a single race, but to this day, we reminice that the closest he ever came to losing was to a 454 El Comino.

It started life out as a white Rallye with a green vinyl roof, and all green interior.  Eventually the vinyl came off, and the whole car was done in metallic green (with aluminum shards to reflect sunlight)

(we used to play BatMan, and altho he drove, I was always BatMan and woudl say stuff like "hit the rocket booster" which basically was the go-pedal, and the toque would press me into the seat...good times!)

To this day, I have vivid memories of the car (and a pic from 1974 with me sitting on the hood) and recall sitting inthe passenger seat, looking up, and not being able to see the top of the dash.  He sold in in '81 for $500.00

In 1994, when I had some funds, I went looking for a '72, and had it painted all dark metallic green in memory of his old Challenger.  Now, my head pretty much touches the roof, but when I drive it, I feel like that little 5 year old playing BatMan, and hittin the booster rocket.

I have a scan of it, but my father-in-law put it as an Adobe file, and I can't load it anywhere, and I don't know how to convert it to a JPEG or GIF file.  it's sitting in my Yahoo mail account, all bored and lonely.

It is VERY '70's.  My older brother and I on the hood.  If anyone is confident that they could convert it, I'd gladly send it

Hmmm, why an e-bod, thats simple for me. Guess its kind of a long story but here it goes.....It all started in 77, when my old man needed another muscle car and it just so happens that a challenger came up for sale. The owner was getting a divorce and wanted it gone so his wife couldnt have it, so 350 bucks later, my dad had himself a 70 R/T SE w/ 3 engines(all blown). So my dad spent the next 2 years restoring it and drove it around. Flashforward, it was 86 and now that he had a family, he lost interest in it and it sat in the garage untill I started asking about the car. I guess I sparked his interest in muscle cars again and we went to a bunch of car shows and he said I can have the car. So at 15, I was the proud owner of a challenger that had been sitting for 15 years and it was in need of a LOT of work. I got the car running and drove it for about 6 months before I decided that it needed to be restored again....so here I am 14 months later with my car in pieces. Ohh yeah, in case you thought my dad would be a little sad from giving away his pride and joy, he isnt. After seeing my challenger on the road, he decided he needed something to play around with, so he went out and bought himself another challenger (Plum Crazy - 340), so now both of use have ourselves 70 Challengers :D I just gotta get mine on the road so we can go to car shows together.......

Killer, have you posted pics of your car? I don't remember seeing any.  I'd love to see your car...maybe you could start a new thread so we could have a looksee?   We are also restoring a 70 RT/SE.

I hope to have the body in primer by May, but college is keeping me busy, so Im not sure when it will be done. Ohh and here is my old man's car:

 It was originally a 318, but now has a 340 that I plan on building up a little. Plans also include a set of Cragar S/S' and wheel lip moldings.....should look really good next to mine.....ohh and the paint looks dull because it was cloudy out.

The car was originally F8 Green, 383 4-bbl, black vinyl, black interior, and a 3-speed...yes THREE speed. It was one of 31 R/T SE with a 3-speed, but who wants a 3-speed? When my dad bought the car it came with an 833 from a 440-6 cuda, so thats what it has in it now. Also, when he went over the car in the late 70s he painted it the orange(with gold pearl) that is shown in the picture, its a 1963 ford color that was made for construction trucks. Anyhow, since the drivetrain isnt number-matching, I can care less what it came with from the factory, so the F8 is out of the question. I plan on painting it Go-mange orange with gold pearl and a black vinyle top, it will have badges on the sides and no stripes or blackout treatment. The car will also have at least 16 inch cragar S/S' on it with wheel lip moldings, to break up the orange..... so basically there will only be black, orange, and chrome on my car :D The engine has a cam, headers, intake, and carb on it and can be seen in my avatar. By the time the body is done the engine will also have a set of ported 452s with 1.81/2.14 valves.......Anyway enough about my car, you said you have an R/T SE too and I would love to here the story of that beauty......
