Tommy Boy GTX

Anyone know if the GTX that was trashed in Tommy Boy is the same orange GTX they call a "hemi roadrunner" in Joe Dirt? I don't think there is any way to tell for sure but I have been curious about that for a while.

One person is drawing the conclusion that it's the same car as it has the same wheels AND the same brand of tires in both movies, see above pics.  Being that Chris Farley and David Spade were friends and did similar movies, it wouldn't surprise me if they repainted a left over Tommy Boy car.

Yeah $5k would not surprise me one bit. I bought this beast for $3.5k in '98, only thing I changed was the wheels.

Its got the original 361 big block, however the previous owner worked at an auto performance shop so he ripped it apart and put all high performance 383 parts in it. It really rumbles.

It was my first car, bought it at 15 years old. Best decision I ever made!

Thanks! I got them off an ambitious '67 mustang owner. He tried to fit them, but the first bump he hit he shredded the tires. Needless to say, I got a good deal and they fit real well in the wide fender, which looked horrible with the skinny stock tires in there.

I am thinking they are the same car in the 2 movies, there are too many similarities. However, now I'm thinking the GTX was actually a clone made from a Belvedere or Satellite. I say this because it is missing a few options you would expect to see standard on a GTX (Mopar experts, please advise):
1) 120mph speedometer gauge - see pic (GTX had a standard 150mph speedometer gauge)
2) Column shift (console shift standard on GTX?)
3) Missing chrome brake light bezel (standard on GTX), however these could have been removed.
4) Missing chrome wheel-well trim (pretty sure standard on GTX), however these could have been removed.
5) Bench seat up front (not sure if GTX had standard buckets or not)
6) No competition gas cap and bezel (standard on GTX)

Anyone spot anything else?
