73' Dodge Charger
« on: July 01, 2012 - 09:37:48 PM »
I am putting my 1973  B5 Dodge Charger up for sale to commit resources to the restoration of my Barracuda.  I have not checked for build sheet, but the car does retain its fender tag(s).  Car has a good running 440 & 727 slapstick on the floor.  By the fender tag(s) it was originally a 318 car.

Exterior - The car has two spots that are bubbling about softball size under each of the doors. Other than those spots the car is solid underneath and all around.  While I was in Korea I had a car cover over it that has put light scratches in the paint.  The grill has a few small chips in it.  The Stripes running around the car are fading from black to slightly whitish as is the go wing.

Interior - Car retains what appears to be all original interior.  The front seats are starting to separate at the stitching. but are fully functional.  The headliner looks good - 1 quarter sized hole. Car has a ralley dash with tac.  The speedo and odometer are currently not functioning.  The cable looks to have melted to the exhaust.  The gas gauge is typical and will go from full to empty when you punch it, and when you let off the accelerator will float back up to full or however much fuel you have.  Has factory radio that is non functional.  AC does not currently work.

Trunk, floor pans, frame solid.  car is currently tagged and driven weekly.  Car is for sale locally in Jacksonville NC, and I am asking $9.500.  The car does have a lien on it, so pending sale it would be about two weeks before I got the title back.  I love the car and am not selling it because I financially have to.  I just want the Plymouth on the road more than I want to keep the Charger.  $9,500 is as low as I will go.  I am not interested in a trade at this time, I already have my next project.  If interested you can PM me phone number will be given through PM only, or email - ironfist0311@yahoo.com.

I ask because I'm certain I used to own this very car unmolested when I was 16ish.  I purchased it with 68k miles, original 318 2 barrel, same split seams in the drivers seat and the rest of the interior was cherry, like yours.  The trunk was super clean also, with original spare and trunk mat.  I sold to a friend, who had a 440 ready to put in, we did the body work (patched lower 1/4s) and sprayed it (we both worked at the shop), painted stripe, painted go-wing.  He put rally rims on it, also with a custom shop (our shop) welded 3" exhaust that dumped just in front of the rear tires.  We also swapped the rear for a 8 3/4; the original open rear was fun smoking the winter tires off : )

It's a NJ car, or at least it was in 1990...

If you can add any more pictures I would love to see them!

Thanks for the memories,
Kevin

1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

Yes it is!  Haha, I've ocasionally googled pics for the car out of curiosity, but nothing ever came up.  It was the greatest thing in the world cruising around in that beast when I was 17ish.  It wasn't that fast, but it looked awesome when it was first finished.

This has got to be my old car.  B5 sprayed over A5 grey/metallic, identical interior with rips in driver seat.  And the the fact that both the stripes and go wing are both fading tells me they are both the same painted add ons we did.

It's nice to see the what I think is the original paint and body work holding up well after 20+ years.   Diamont base clear; System 88 clear at the time for those wondering...

I know, right!?  My Dad and I drove the car home a few years before I was able to drive (I'm 36 now) and .  He figured it would be a great first car for me and I always loved the Mopar's, but I've always tinkered with things and I couldn't leave it alone.  So the first thing I did with what little money I had was purchase chrome valve covers/air filter cover from a swap meet.   That's as far as I ever got and then I sold the car to my best friend who had the funds to finish the visions I had of the car (I still visit with once a year or so).  My friend and I then started working in a real shop instead of our garages, and was able to complete the rest...

I"m still not %100 sure it was my old car, but I know the work put into it and the first six of the VIN started with 222 something...but I'm %99 sure short of looking for holes drilled under the factory radio where I had installed a newer radio.

Thanks for any more pictures you can provide!!!!
