Explain my horn to me.
« on: July 02, 2012 - 01:10:04 AM »
1971 'Cuda

I have what looks like a single horn.   It works so there is no problem there.   It's just that I was looking at a wire diagram and it looks like it is showing two horns.
Am I suppose to have two horns or is the horn that I have some kind of two horn in a single unit thing?

Mine looks stock.

most e bodies I have seen have 2 horns but the mounting position changes year to year , 70 was on the right inner fender & there should be 2 threaded holes & 2 smaller holes for the locating tab near them , your wiring should have 3 wires from the alt , two green / red for the horns & a brown for the washer pump . Not sure if 71 had them mounted in he same place .

I have a 71 Barracuda and it came with only 1 horn (low note). However the fender had the provision to mount a second horn and the wire harness had the correct plug to connect the power. The mounting position is the same as a 70. I purchased a second horn (high note) and installed it and it sounds much better with 2.
