Radiator Dilemma for cuda
« on: July 07, 2012 - 11:32:56 AM »
Restoring my 72 cuda.  318 with swirl port heads, cam, DP intake, 600 holley.  Nothing too radical.

My problem is what to do with the radiator.
It has a very good condition 26" core, that never had a shroud, but instead a late model electric fan that was jury rigged at best.
I need a shroud.

Is it me, or do they not make e-body shrouds that accommodate the 2" offset?
Factory rad was a 22", and you clearly see the offset in those shrouds.  But look at any 26" fan shroud, and there is no offset.

Help!!!!

The 26" cars had centered radiators. 22"cars had a wider radiator plate on the rad support to the passenger side to accommodate the smaller radiator. Hence the non offset on 26" radiator shrouds.

Being a 318 car, your car probably came with a 22" radiator. Thus your radiator is spaced towards the drivers side. You'll need to change out the part of the radiator brace that the radiator bolts too, or make brackets and run the 26" centered shroud

Thanks yellowfin.

A lot of the links on your original link did not work.

I did however come across this shroud, which looks perfect for what I have, a 318 72 e-body with a 26" radiator.
Notice the ~2" offset, which looks like it will fit perfectly.

Anyway, I will bid on it.

Your thoughts?
Anyone else?

Thankya
