I really like what you did you bounced it off here as far as opinions,

and I  too dont like drilling holes in fine vintage steel but the tape idea is great, but yes if it fails it would be .........well embarrassing to see that thing flying off in to the air :burnout:,

I am in the middle of doing a resto and I just dont want to drill holes for the vynal top so that idea is nixed

and there is trim above the doors and I have new 1/4s and I dont want to drill those either so the tape idea might work for the trim on the top of the doors and 1/4s it is pretty light.

I am also wondering if taping the chin spilers would work the repro ones that are really light.

as far as drilling you deck lid its your car .why not give it your personal touch and go with it I think it looks awesome, and besides these new repro deck lids are really nice , so if someone down the road wants to change it back they can

Well, like I said -- this car is not an "original" car......it has non numbers matching everything, so unlikely someone will restore it to 100% stock originality once it leaves my cold dead hands.....and I was tired of himhawwing about it...LOL

Worse comes to worse, the deck lid can be replaced like you said or metal repaired.....

I really like how it turned out -- havent driven with it yet due to weather being iffy right now....

IMO  It looks great, and to hell with trying to keep everything original. As long as you dont hack up the car its all good.  The one thing about mopar guys is the way everything has to look or be "original".  While I love an all original car, if your's is not numbers matching rare options then just build what you want.

Looks great!  :2thumbs:  The T/A spoiler goes on the same way. I too remember that lump in my throat drilling the first hole!

You made the right choice. Good job.. Sometimes you just have to go for it...          P.S.-- extra beer makes it easier..

That looks good!  Better than the '70 Go-wings (too Mustang for me).

Not sure, but did '70 AAR spoilers have some kind of bracing?  I'm concerned the metal will warp/pull through.

I was wondering that myself actually.....but from what I can find, the repops are setup exactly as the originals.....I should probably drill the two holes on ether end for the sheet metal screws that screw into the clips, but doesnt seem like they would offer that much resistance anyways......

One thing to remember i that the metal used in the deck lids (lo, the rest of the car too) was thicker than what is used today......

That, plus the nuts that are used have built in washers......I had considered adding even bigger washers or small plates.......
