340 oil pan removal.

Just trying to plan out some work I'll be doing.  Will I need to remove the steering link that runs under the oil pan to remove the oil pan?

If so, tie rod puller disconnects, but how do I reconnect it to the tie rods?

Yes , I just use a hammer & hit the side & they pop it without damage to the seals

Sounds like you are describing disconnecting them without a tie rod puller.

So how do I reconnect?  I was thinking it may be something you press back on but underneath the car?

Correct, he's saying just hit them with a hammer instead of using a puller.

Just use the nut to 'press' them back together by torquing to spec.  The specs would be found in the service manual.

Yeah I just purchased a new Pitman Arm because the side that bolts to the connecting rod in much the same way as the tierod was stripped and some kind of glue used to keep the nut attached instead of the cotter pin.  Made me concerned that the previous owner re-connected them improperly, and f***ed it up as I might.

Thanks.  That's what I needed to know.
