What gears are you running?
« on: July 09, 2012 - 05:32:31 PM »
Just wondering what gears you guys are running in your old mopar?  I have 3.23's in my 8 3/4....and it kills me on the highway.  Tachs 3200 RPM at 70 MPH.  I'm thinking about going back to 2.76!

It depends on tire size too. I have 3:23's and I'm at 3000 RPM at 70 MPH. That was the way they rolled back then.

Currently 3.23, but I am getting ready to swap them out with 3.91. I am running 255 60R 15 tires out back. Eventually I will be installing an overdrive, but for now I don't do much freeway driving so it's ok.

3.55 but using the Keisler auto OD so it was 3000 @ 65 mph I expect it to be ( still have to install the new tranny) 2000 @ 65 mph

Originally 2.76.  I had a good working 3.23 sure grip so that's what I put in.  We will see what the gas miliage is when I get it on the road.  I may have the 2.76's rebuilt.

Dad said when the car was new he could get 18-20mpg with it.  I'd be happy with that.

With extended highway use , 2.76 would be.... ok, 3.91 or even 4.10 in mountain areas are nice and close. I like 3.55 for all around though.

And you OD guys really irritate me.

I'm running 3.73 with 275/60R15's...  wish I knew the rpms but my gauge doesn't work.   :hyper:

The A518 OD makes my 360 purr at 75 mph.    :woohoo:
