Hood for 1971 Cuda
« on: July 13, 2012 - 11:33:57 PM »
I have a 1971 Plymouth Cuda. The motor im currently running will not fit with stock hood. So i need a cowl or hood scoop hood. I would only need like a 2 and 1/2 inch cowl, but it can go larger. I have no idea where to look so any suggestions will help. Thanks

Can you get a drop base for that air cleaner? Or a different air cleaner all together?
If I cant fix it, it's broke

Thanks for the offers but neither one makes a cowl hood, they do make a aar hood but, i didnt love the design. I also dont really want to run pins. I was hoping for maybe a steel hood then put a cowl hood scoop on to that? someone offered me that idea? And i want to be able to just raise the hood up, not have to unbolt and pick the whole hood up

Cowls are for Chevys IMHO.   :puke:

Get a drop-base air cleaner, and get a steel shaker hood and put the bubble permanently on the hood.  It won't shake, but it should give you some clearance.

Awsome car, Ill upload photos of my complete project, it has 31 inch tall tires tucked under the fender, 18 inch wide. Was completely taken apart and all new parts. 8 year process. And alot of money. But anyway, i agree cowl is more chevy, but i honestly want to run that air filter, so im looking for a cowl. Thanks for the idea though. Also what wheels do you use on your car

I agree I've done some business with AAR, when they say ready to paint they don't lie. My hood needed zero work! You've got to be careful with fiberglass there's a lot of junk out there

I dunno; AAR hood doesn't seem appropriate for anything >1970 'Cudas.  Just my $0.02.
