HP2,
Thanks for the warnings about the potential dangers........
The plastic that I am installing on the hood is .135'' thick virgin ABS, it should handle the heat OK. The warping you talk about is there for sure, but it's a bigger problem with the poly's than the ABS. When we vacuum for these plastics, we have to pay attention to the direction of the material. We call it the machine direction, or the direction it runs as it comes out of the extruder. If you get it wrong, your shrink factor is out of wack.
I have the plastic fitted and attached to the hood. I also have a piece of .180'' thick TPO attached to the bottom of the air filter pan. The air cleaner is 14'' across, the TPO is 20'' across. this gives me 3'' all the way around the air filter. Once my carb spacer shows up, I will know the size if the piece I will use to create a seal between the two pieces of plastic.........

Don't know if you saw the hill climb thread or not, but you can find it here: http://www.cuda-challenger.com/cc/index.php?topic=86788.0

The cuda shown looks to use the lower front spoiler to pull more air into the car:

The Hillclimb car usually races in vintage road races. During hillclimb duty they actually raise the car up a couple inches to create more body roll and get more bite from the tires. The ductwork you see under the front spoiler is actually for brake cooling. The AAR hood on the car is fully functioning for fresh air intake to the engine and is isolated from all the engine bay airflow.

Looks very similar under the hood to a 67-69 Camaro Z28 Cowl Induction Hood.  :cooldancing:
