Challenger R/T hood scoop insert replacements?
« on: July 20, 2012 - 06:43:58 AM »
I have rigged up a way to pull cool / clean air from my R/T Hood Scoops into my carb. In order to maximize the the available air flow, I have taken the inserts out of the Hood Scoops. Now I need a way to make the Scoops look good without the inserts in there.
Any of you guys have ideas or suggestions?
Any pictures of a creative way to make this look nice?
THANKS!!!

Wasn't there a picture in your other thread that showed some aluminum grills painted black on a Cuda?  That looked really good.

Yes, I saw that. But it looks like the scoops on the Challenger are much different than the scoops on the Cuda. When you pull the inserts from the Challenger hood, it leaves a bunch of ugly stuff exposed on the outside of the hood. I think any of the ugly stuff on the Cuda hood is hidden.................

Accually, I think he cut all that stuff out.   If you don't want to modify the hood, you could always paint it flat black inside there.

Did you pull the inserts out of the hood, or did you take the little plate out of the insert?

once you remove the plates there are 2 die cast ribs the plates screw into , those can be removed , behind that is a deflector to take rain etc of the the frame of the hood & drain it away from the engine ..
