Well,
let me throw some water on the stew. Some of those "euro" street legal cars are hell'a'fast piece of work. we have here a B-street class in Finnish Hot Rod Association (FHRA) organized comps. Typical fast onces are BMW2002, Opel Kadett, Toyota Celicas.. all from 70's/80's
here's couple of pics of them.. a Toyota Celica '83 2,3L turbo 900hp (best 1/4 et 8.47/166mph) and Opel Kadett 2.4L turbo, 900hp@9000rpm(best 1/4mile 8.2/ 167mph)

And the last is World's fastest 4 cylinder dragster, a Toyota 2,1L turbo IMCA engine.. all build buy the driver+team  1000hp
4 cylinder World record 6.91/200mph

So they're quite fast  :grinyes:.. even for 4 cylinders
Dementia already from the year...mmmm ???

you guys are forgetting the Mazda RX7 and the Toyota Supra - hey - if a Supra is considered a Viper Killer with a few simple mods, and an RX7 is considered a Supra killer( and vice versa ) - I've seen MANY a Supra run low 9s with over 700hp with just exhaust, air intake, ecu, and a big ass turbo upgrade

actually nope - Supra's dont have that problem - a stock wankel on an RX7 would - but most people upgrade to a 4B rotary engine

Alright, I'll give you those two, but the Supra is kinda like a Viper; people may dream of owning one, but who actually has one sitting in their garage?

Guess who's back....... :pissed:
For good measures, how do you think either of these cars would stand up to this 'Cuda?

But what would it run *without* all of those modifications? And, as was mentioned, longevity is thrown out the window with all of those upgrades.

What longetivity?!?!?!  :dontknow:

Where's all that fun you get by yanking the engine off with bloody knuckles, opening that, tuning and assembling together, yanking it back in and  :burnout:... I'd say longetivity is really over-respected wording  :grinyes:

Yanking engines would get tiresome after a while. I'd eventually get too lazy to keep doing that. That's one reason I prefer Mopar engines like 340s, 383s, 440s and (old) Hemis!

Hmm,
well I've ripped the engine out already 4 times.. meaning every winter after I got "the thing done". Only once it was sort of broken (I had 3 intake valves touching very lightly to pistons).. otherwise it's only changing some internals and get more POWER  :grinyes:

Hey street challenged73 - where did you get pics of that Cuda - Ive seen that one in person at a cruisehere in Ohio.
It was wicked, I remeber looking at how the guy fab'd all the brackets ( like for the coil packs ) and thinking what a great job was done.

BB73, those are from a set of photos Mike took at Carlisle last year.  That car was parked near our tent last year, so after giving it all the grief for the 22"s, side markers, and funky paint job, we decided to check it out.  That V-10 must be the king of the road in Jersey! :grinyes:  Too bad his turning radius was greatly hindered when he stuffed all that stuff up front.  We saw him each day having a difficult time trying to turn it around in the lot. :-\

That just proves something... when it time to race, put the toys away (imports) and let real cars on the track (Mopars)!  ;D
