The type R was only released in Japan. However, there are a handfull of real type R's in America, as well as a few clones. Of course, the vast majority of cars with the type R sticker are just stock cars with a sticker and a bodykit.

there were made for US market too with left hand steering standard

I'm not so sure about that.  I've heard from several sources that the only way to get a Type R in America is to import one.  Or, buy one from someone who has already imported it.

or, like most of the other type-R owners, but yourself some snazzy stickers and paper mache and go to town... :rice:

I don't care how fast a Ricer, type R, Evo, 900 hp dyno queen Supra or what ever else these dudes put on the road.  They all sound like buzzing loud annoying crap!  Accept for the very few that I've come accross that have dropped a V8 crate motor into them.
There is nothing that sounds better, than big american V8 in a bad ass Muscle car. At the drags it's all about power and weight no question, but in the end they are driving home a juiced turbo fart box, and we are diving home a nasty sounding stop traffic Cuda or Challenger.

Good newer cars include: Supra, EVO, WRX STi. Those three are all beasts. If you can find a used Supra twin turbo, I believe they're around 30k right now, but you can mod them out fairly easily. I saw a dyno test of a 900HP Supra that nearly shook itself off the dyno machine. I also saw video of a twin turbo 600HP Miata on the road that accellerated CRAZY fast.

For those who say "there is no replacement for displacement" aren't quite right. Power to weight ratio can make a big difference. In the straights, bigger is most likely always better and has the potential to be pushed further HP wise. But, in the real world or in a road race, a slightly slower car in the 1/4 might out-handle the faster cars by a significant margin.

Just look at the Lotus Elise. That thing is practically a go-kart, but it handles like nobodys business.

By the time I am able to save for a Challenger I am going to want to upgrade the suspension as much as I can. Wide low profile tires and a low/stiff suspension in addition to fiberglass hoods/fenders would probably help push that old hunk of metal to handle more like a modern car. The E bodies are already low and wide... so they've got that going for them at least. :)

I'm building my '73 to hopefully be able to handle the corners and straight-aways well.  I've spent around $1,500.00 in front suspension parts so far and I still don't have the front and rear sway bars I plan on using. :-/  Sure, RX-8's and things along that line can handle the corners extremely well, but it's the cool factor that makes these old cars more appealing to most people. =)

I would surely have to agree on that. I want a loud and obnoxious hunk of steel in my garage someday. They're just so cool to look at. :)

You all make very good point's.And Mark you have a very good idea about doing your suspension up right. But I do love supra's.im not gonna lie lol.the twin turbo's are very very quick cars.I would choose an muscle car over it anyday, but hopefully someday i will be able to have a supra and a mopar cuddling in a garage together lol.And i know some of you might give me some crap for it,but i dont care.they are slick clean and fast,i like them alot.(but not the price tag on most of them)
