Summer heat and your ebody?
« on: July 24, 2012 - 12:29:05 PM »
Now I don't know about everyone but both of my cars have been sitting as the summer heat has been brutal.  I have been focused on jet skis, power boat and the in ground pool.  Other than that, been inside.   What about you?   :dunno:

I have not had mine out yet for a few reasons, and the heat would be on for sure.  Black interior, no air adn litte insulation = way too HOT!!!

I've come to terms with the fact I enjoy working on the car more than I enjoy actually driving it.  Although it has been so hot that I won't bother going out into the garage to work on it.

I drive the Beast every summer weekend. It was over 100* here a few weekends ago and myself and my car club group went to a cruise that was about 15 miles one way. It was hot inside the car, but not intolerable. The car never went over 210*. It is uncomfortable in that kind of heat, but I don't think it does any harm to the car....    :2thumbs:

Well ok, I would be driving her in the heat if I could!  :crying:  ::) but then I like the heat.Sure it does get a little uncomfortable but as long as you stay out of traffic and keep moving it`s fine.

When I do a 3rd gen Hemi conversion, my car will get an A/C retrofit. It's too miserable driving in the heat/humidity, with a/c..I'd be running many more miles on it.

I drive mine in the heat no problem. Then again us Canadians are tougher than most!  :aarg: :stirpot:  :roflsmiley:

Just kidding, I have been researching A/C for my car too......  :grinyes:  Funny the older I get the less tolerance for the heat and humidity I have?  :dunno:  I agree black vinyl seats are no fun when it's hot. One great thing with non ac e-bodys is the fresh air vents they do work REALLY well as long as you are moving!  :2thumbs:  I'm looking for an A/C system/kit that will let me keep them.

With the heat from my headers, even though they are ceramic coated...It plain stinks in 90+ heat.

When mine was on the road I drove it every day. It was really hot and humid a lot but I didn't care. I feel so much better in my no ac challenger than I do any other car

I would be driving mine but need a near rear pumpkin as I had trouble a few months back and may or may not be ruined but need another one to put in an rebuild mine for a spare , but all my money is tied up in restoring my cj7 which is almost done , then the challenger gets the money

I usually drive mine all year, but the mid atlantic summer heat & humidity can be brutal. It really doesn't matter with my car as it doesn't have A/C. A nice breeze works for me, but I do curb back long drives when it's mid-upper 90's like the season before last when I drove the Challenger from VA to Carlisle. Just a bit too warm for me!  :smokin:

My car has been apart for 7 years or so and has had two engines in the last 6 weeks, been 90 and humid here and I am driving it. Just happy to have it back together.

Mine's pretty much sitting till September. I can get out in the morning and back by 11am or so and it's not too bad. (It's a dry heat don't ya know )  However a hot car parked in the garage gets it upto around 100  inside. Not good for the resident mousers.

Anyways,  having a naturally ventilated Challenger, I've always wondered how well the original A/C actually worked in these cars?
