Back of 383 Pics / oil leaks
« on: July 25, 2012 - 11:39:22 AM »
Whats Up Guys,

I was wondering if anyone has any pictures of the back of a 383 (flywheel side)? Does the back of the 383 have any oil galley plugs?

I'm going to attempt to do my rear main again (I can't stand oil leaks  :banghead: ),, and I just want to know if I'm missing something,,maybe it's not my rear main. Hard to tell back there.

Also can anyone recommend a good rear main seal? This is what I used last time.................. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/FEL-2947/

Check the oil sender at the rear of the block , I was fooled by this when I was young .
there are 2 pipe plugs at the end of the lifter bore feed tubes

Thanks for the info, the oil sending unit is dry. As per the pipe plugs gona be hard to check those with the fly wheel and trans in the way.
