Drivers rear quarter panel deflection 70 barracuda
« on: July 25, 2012 - 11:48:35 AM »
I have noticed that my quarter panel will push in and out (deflecting?) if you lean up against it. Is this normal? The pass side does not but it was hit and has who knows how much bondo in there. Is there some sort of brace internally? It will deflect in a little less than an inch or so

Some repop sheet metal is thinner then what these cars came with.  That could be the issue.  Are your quarters sprayed with undercoating in the trunk?  The factory sprayed a thick layer of undercoating on the trunk side of the quarters in order to limit the flexing you are talking about.  If you don't have any undercoating in the quarter, I would spray some.

The same goes for on the back side of the fenders.  The undercoating is there to protect the metal from flying rocks.

It looks like it has the factory undercoating in it not as thick as my 73 though. Any other ideas what would cause the beer can effect?
