360 / 380 hp crate oil capacity?
« on: July 27, 2012 - 08:06:24 PM »
Anyone know what the oil capacity is on this engine?  Everytime I change the oil and filter and put in 4.5 quarts of oil it shows its overfilled on the dip stick by 1/8-3/16".  Has anyone else got the incorrect dipstick in these.  I'd imagine I should be putting in 5 quarts.  Thanks

You are probably using an original or original length dipstick with one of the newer tubes.  When I tried to a new chrome tube with an original stick, the new tube is shorter allowing the dipstick to go too far down.  You could either get a matched pair or get one of the newer chrome dipsticks from Mopar which will probably work.  You should be using at least 5 qts of oil so regardless of what your stick is showing, put 5 in.
