Steering column switch predicament

Well I made a swap from a column shift to the floor shift steering. The downside is the person who did the swap left the lockout which I believe comes on a auto and I am making this a 4 speed. Can I detach the column from the steering unit and slide the lockout unit off?

i would think you would need a filler piece to go there.

what do you mean by the lock out?

are you reffering to the linkage on a 70 only column that prevents you from puting the key in the lock position without having the car in park?

yeah, you can see the rod sticking out towards the fender which I want to remove.

Possible?

what do you mean by the lock out?

are you reffering to the linkage on a 70 only column that prevents you from puting the key in the lock position without having the car in park?

 :horse: 4speeds have the lever in 70,leave it.or change the column to a 71 whitch doesnt have it.  :dunno:

Yeah looks like I will have to deal with it.

I guess I can set something up so it doesn't lock for the long haul.

Post a pic of what your trying to do. There are alot of people here that could help you out.

[/quote       :jumping: i have my lever unconnected in the engine bay ,and only once in 5 years its moved so i had to put my hand on the column section closest to the inst,cluster and turn it a bit,to get the key out of the ign,lock.  :wave:
