Need suggestions for choice of hood scoop.
« on: July 30, 2012 - 07:09:53 PM »
I'm really starting to lean toward an aftermarket hood scoop on my old flat hood.
So far the scoop that I like the most is the Harwood # 4163.
I'm not sure how to post a link of it or I would...Sorry.
If you guys have suggestion or even better, pictures of something sweet, please post it.
Thanks!

A scoop like that would look real bad on a stock looking challenger  :2cents:

Have you considered a different hood?

Well someone modified a standard Road Runner hood to fit a challenger:

Maybe a N96 fresh air Road Runner hood...at least it's Mopar :)

Air Grabber on a chally...kinda cool. But you would have to get the whole set-up for under the hood
to make it work. Definitely a doable idea.
If I cant fix it, it's broke

Here's the 4163. If I'm not mistaken, this is what tonefiend has.

I was thinking that Tonefiend has a slightly taller scoop on his. I was just looking at a bunch of stuff, maybe the Dual Snorkle Scoop would look good.

Is the Dual Snorkle a hood that was actually on some models of the Challenger?

Yeah the hood I had on my car was not happening imho so I went to a ralley hood.  besides it was just bolted on so in the rain or any condensation flowed underneath the scoop in the back right through the open top K&N filter and ended up in the carb.  Unbelievably stupid IMHO.

Heres a pic of my old one. It's an '80s pro stock look.  I have to say I got alot of attention with this hood.  Mostly people wanting me to rev it up or race!  Little did they know that massive scoop was to feed air into my 318!

Is this what you mean by dual snorkle? This was only on A-bodies, IIRC, but I've seen a Challenger with this scoop mounted. Wish I could find the pic, but I think it's on a computer that's packed up. It looked OK to me, kind of like a TA hood but smaller.

Forgot to add art  Fixed now.

Dual scoop?  Like the Ramcharger hood on Super bees?

They also had another hood option, not sure if it's tall enough to flow more than a challenger rallye:

I used to have the pickle fork scoop on the purple car, with plans to add it to my flat hood. After studying the designs, especially the hood crown line versus the scoop, I decided it wouldn't work well.

SO, wondering if you ever got this scoop?

I am looking for a scoop for my 72 Fish and I like the same one you do...

Wondering how it would look on a fish and how the heck you attach it?   I was looking at the "inside" flange version so you wouldnt see the hardware....
