    XV lower rad support question..

    Is their anyone running this?if so how does the radiator fit in the car with it? Also do you completely remove the lower sheet metal?

    Basically if you keep the factory lower piece you have to have a side tank aftermarket radiator. To use a factory top and bottom tank unit you have to remove the lower sheetmetal piece and install their brace with the two little extensions that come with it to drop it lower.

    For the best fit you would could remove the lower section. If you were worked about the look you could then reinstall it over the new brace. I slid my brace back just enuf to weld it in on all 4 sides.

    My lower rad support has been cut already so I am plannin on adding one of these. Does it span the front frame rails? What size box tubing is it made of? Xv is showing out of stock currently

    I used the XV product on a 70 challenger two years ago.  It made a huge difference in the flex of the car which is real apparent when you jack up a front wheel.   
     
    I removed the stock support and welded in the brace with the front edge of the brace 2.5 inches from the front of the frame rail.  The short extensions are required if you are using a stock radiator.  You also need to weld in a plate for your vertical support. 

    Since the product has been out of stock for a long time, I made my own for a 73 barracuda project by welding up 2" stock.

    I would be interested in seeing this.  Been thinking about finding an xv brace and cutting it so it stays at the stock location ( not using their "spacers")

    So why has the XV brace been on galactic back order? Hasn't it been over 4 months? I was hoping to pick this and their subframe connectors up at nats.

    The photos are of the XV product which is smooth.   When I did the Barracuda, I cut wedges into 2" stock, bent them together,  then welding them back up.   The curve is not as smooth as the XV design.

    Regarding XV.  They state out of stock, which may be defined differently than back order.  My guess is that there is not much margin/profit in the product.   If you have the capability to weld then in place, you have the capability to make them yourself.

    Look fellas although any bracing is good the radiator support made a little difference but certainly not tremendous
    The engine brace I put in with conjunction with the rad support made a 100%
    Difference
    Prior to the engine brace a actually cracked a aluminum radiator
    Due to flexing
    After the engine brace went in is was immediately apparent it made a difference after
    Pulling out of the driveway
    My car handles proof positive
    !!!!!
    If you haven't looked into the brace do so
    There is no pumping up of the info it made a HUGE DIFFERENCE !!!

    Are you talking about a triangle brace above the motor tying the fenders and firewall together?

    Did you reinforce the firewall behind mount or plate it?
