Fuse selection for electric fuel pump

 I have installed my electric fuel pump and am looking for a suitable fuse box source. Instructions say tie into ignition switch? Anybody know which fuse location this would be? I would think that just finding a fuse that stays hot when key is turned to start and stays hot when in run position should be fine - and of course turns off when key is off. Any ideas or problems with my theory.  :dunno: :clueless: :1zhelp:

is the battery in the trunk ? I would use a relay & shunt power direct from the battery , you should have one spare power plug at the bottom of the fuse block

Yes the battery is in the truck - just moved it there as well. Good point. I am very inefficient at wiring. Too funny as I did wire a relay right next to the battery box. Thanks Chryco. I suppose I should also find a location that is not powered in accessory position as well.

Next question - The relocated battery is finished and everything seems to work fine - battery charges, car shuts down when the kill switch is turned off but I cannot get the ammeter to work. I have run a tag wire from the starter relay back to the kill switch and the ammeter works fine. I removed that wire and figured I could just run from the starter relay to the starter battery post - makes sense? The ammeter does not work this way?? I should just bypass the ammeter anyways as I have a nice Mopar voltmeter in the project box anyway but like the stock gauges as long as they work.

the 12v feed , blue wire to the voltage reg & ballast is not powered in acc position , , a small gauge wire from that to the relay will switch the relay for the fuel pump .
 I am trying to figure out the ammeter wiring , you need to run the blue field wire for the alt through the kill switch so when the power is killed the ammeter shuts down , the charging wire should still connect as usual . the blue field wire at the kill switch will also power the fuel pump relay as that si the switched circuit you need for the pump .
