**** Finished photos on Page 18 ****

My wife let me build a new shop.  We designed some neat features (propane tiki torches, outdoor big screen TV and a propane fire pit) so I'm sure that helped, but I'm so excited to have more space!

My wife and I started building it 34 days ago and tomorrow morning we'll be putting the slab down.  Doing the work ourselves is so rewarding.

The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

Are you doing the slab work yourself?

I'm doing all of it myself.  I have 60 yards of concrete showing up in 7 hours.  I've got my dad and a couple friends to help me get it all down before it goes off, but I ordered it with a 1 hour of recover so it will not fire for 1 hour giving me a little more time to work it.

My wife jumps in and helps when she can, but I've done it all so far and will do everything from framing to electrical, roofing, siding , insulation and finish work.  I want to get it done in 1 year so I can get back to restoring cars!   :bananasmi:  Do you do slab work?

That is awesome!

That's going to be fantastic to have more room! Good for you! Are you doing the in floor heating thing?  That's a popular upgrade around my neck of the woods.
I'd  love a new shop too but it's just not in the budget. Your old one would do me !

No heated floor, just lots of rebar.  It's 4:50 am and time to go pour the slab before it gets to hot!  Wish me luck!

Sounds like a busy day! Good luck! I'll bet you'll be whopped by the time this day is over.

I honestly do not do the slab work.  I will do most all of the work on a home or garage but I tend to stay away from the slab work.
Being as particular as I am, I have a hard time accepting my job on slabs.
I want the crete perfect like glass but it is very hard to get the glass look.
I am sure you are already out there, but make sure that when you start smoothing, you stay with that and make everyone else do the other jobs.
This day will definitely be your most stressful day of the process.
Mess this up and it is HUGE!   After this it's all bread and butter.

Let's see some pics!!!

:iagree:  But it's also nice just having a wife that'll let you do that!
