Carlisle makes me want to build cars more than any other event.  By far the best mopar event I've even been to and can be the most motivating too.  But I need to watch my funds and make sure I finish what I started.

Today is exactly 1 year since I broke ground and I think I've got about 1 year more to go to make it what I want.  Today was the 3rd full day of drywall and was able to hang about 35 sheets total so far.  Only about 300 more to go!  :faint:   In the photo the room looks small, but that's a 30' x 17' room.

Hope everyone has a BLAST at Carlisle this year.  I'm hoping next year will be the year I can go.   Can't wait to see all the photos from the show.

Man!, Cody! THAT is beautiful! Did you design it yourself? I mean, did you figure out what you wanted and draft it yourself? You apparently will know every nook and cranny by building it yourself. That, in itself, is cool. I simply can't imagine enough energy after a weeks worth of work, to come home and work harder than ever, all over again. KUDO"S!

From design to permits and every nail and piece of wood (including the concrete).... yes it was me and my wife.  Trust me my legs and back felt it when I brought every single sheet of plywood for the roof up on a ladder.  About 3 units of plywood.   :faint:  We've turned our attention to the backyard while the weather is nice.  I'll be back inside drywalling as soon as the weather turns to rain again.  For now it's backyard time (part of the deal with my wife so I can build a new shop).  I have plumbed it for a couple cool torches and a big propane fire pit that will look very real.  Lots of lighting and that is taking me a ton of time to run.  The stadium swing that over looks the fire pit and faces with big TV has dual tempest torches on each side and full stereo surround sound.  Half the battle is coming up with a plan, but my wife and I have done a ton of thinking about it and now it's time to make it happen.   I hope to have the concrete down for the back yard living area in about 3 weeks.  Then I have about 2 months of working weekends and after work to get the stone walls, bar and BBQ installed before I think the weather will push me indoors.  One day I might look back and wonder what the heck was I thinking, but right now I just get up and hit the ground running until the sun goes down.  Thanks for all the positive comments.  It helps keep me going.

Here's some updated photos.....

A few more...  How many wives would help fabricate?  I'm so lucky.

The paint booth photo I'm laying on the ground to paint the steel poles.  They were about 200 lbs each and I couldn't get them much higher.  The next photo is me digging the 6' deep by 24" square holes they will be concreted in.

One last one of what my back yard looked like 1 year and 2 months ago.....   You can make out the paint lines on the ground where I laid out where I thought would be a good spot for the new shop.

You're building us SUCH a beautiful backyard and shop but, I noticed the pictures don't quite do it justice... we better have all your Cuda-Challenger friends over when we're done so they can see it in person!    :drunk:

Nothing short of amazing to see it all come together.

Cody - do you have a construction background? The amount of work you have done in such a short time puts alot of contractors I know to shame but then again when it's your own project it sure gets the attention it deserves!

Great job!

I definitely would drive down in my Challenger from Olympia to see this place!

Thanks guys.

My background is computer graphics and signs, but I went to college for a Building Construction Degree.  Never went in to the field of construction.  Being a sign guy you have to be a jack of all trades and I spend a lot of time researching stuff up on the internet.  Just like restoring a car, anyone can do that wants to and puts their mind to it.  I try to break it down in to small parts and then break that down in to what I can do in a day.
