Wanted: 70/71 rallye dash gauges
« on: August 10, 2012 - 07:52:53 PM »
I am thinking of converting my standard gauge cluster to a rallye set-up.
Does anyone have any of these parts
I need it all.

Well, you need alot of $$$ if that's what you want to do.

The rally gauge light bar goes for a couple of hundred on E-bay. You will also need the switch panel and heater bezel(depending on if you have AC or not).  Then the 70-71 gauges themselves are expensive. Most of the ones for sale need the clock and tach rebuilt at least.

Oh, and you will have to swap out the oil pressure sending unit, add power to the clock, and switched power to the tachometer as well as a feed from the "-" side of the coil.

I can get everything for about 1,000 bucks
But it will need the gauges redone
Is that a good price and how much to rebuild gauges
Thanks

Sending the gauges out to be restored can run $500 to $1000 depending how bad they are.

Seams like I need to spend at least a couple grand .
All I really want is a tach, but I don't like the way an aftermarket tach looks .
Is there a way to install a tach on the pillar that would look good?
Maybe with some kind of housing
Decisions, decisions

I found pillar post housings on eBay (pillar pods)
Has anyone used these, and how do they fit
