New guy has some questions about 71 Challenger

Any year door will fit , there was differences though , the 70 was unique the rest are very similar overall .
any year hood will fit also again there are differences but the hood will bolt on & close OK .
Anything you have to locate affects the price of the car but the seller knows what is needed also

Just a thought but depending on what other parts you might need, you might want to get a parts car with an engine in it...

What do you mean by this?    I think I'm tired. Just got back from work. You mean bargaining down the seller's price?  Sure!  Get it as cheap as you can without losing the deal!

Nothing wrong with a 340 car!  You can always do the conversion to the big block car.  Cannot say if 4K is high or low as it is always what someone is willing to pay.  If you have looked around and not seen anything in your range for what you want and that is in your range, I say go for it!  There is a ton of knowledge, help, and support on this site if you decide to pull the trigger.  Never hurts to try and talk him down.

I reckon tomorrow I'm gonna go get the car. I've sourced a complete door with a small dent for $150. Otherwise in pretty good shape.

Found an R/T hood in the same town for $400.

Will probably go get that stuff this weekend and start the project.

Hey ya'll the original vin decoder I used wasn't correct. Car was originally a 383 as I was told. I ran another vin decoder originally to show him it was a 340 and he was wrong, but I got proved wrong.

Officially the owner of a 71 Challenger R/T and I am so stoked.

When I get the car out of the shop and at my house I'll be sure to take a bunch of pictures for my restore file. Will of course upload those here so you guys can see what I've got. My work won't be as nearly as nice as what some of ya'll do, but itll be the best I can do on my budget to get it back together. Title stipulates last registration was 1997.

My car is home. Towed her home with my powerstroke diesel. I thought it was pretty neat it was the first thing I towed. Hope yall are ready for some pics because I'm gonna spend tomorrow getting the dust off of it and getting what I can cleaned out. Have to go back probably later tomorrow  night and grab the grill, bumpers, cluster, and most of the interior.

Hey ya'll just a small update. I went out and removed most of the stuff remaining in the interior. Quite a lot of it I can reuse. I made sure to pull the remaining bit of old carpet and vaccumned everything that I can get to. I could find that the driver and passenger front pans are gonna need replaced. The trunk is in overall very solid condition.  It has a couple of pin holes, but nothing that I couldn't fix with a bit of mig weld.

I kept looking around for a build sheet, praying I would find a mint one. I still haven't got the seats or anything so I will check that. I still have to check under the dash pad, under the rear pad.

I did discover a battery tray looking thing in the trunk that had something about the size of a post card with vague numbers and letters. It appeared to be a shortened version of a build sheet. Sadly it is too faded and dirty to really read anything from it.
