Congratz on a great project car. I can't wait to see it. I just put fresh paint on my 71RT and was the first car I ever painted so I can tell you all the things NOT to do lol. Good luck.

Those would be?

Also any clue where I could find wiring diagrams/hose diagrams. Basically just a really good shop manual because a lot of this stuff has been removed or unconnected and I need to know what is original and what isn't. Plus I want to label it for easy install when I sandblast.

I've also been wondering about one thing in particular. I've been looking around to get an idea of pricing on various parts of my project. From what I was told this challenger had factory sport harnesses. I've not seen the actual seats yet. From what I could see removing the seatbelts and associated pieces it looks like a regular old 3 point seatbelt. Is this likely the case?

From what I was told this challenger had factory sport harnesses.

:clueless:  I don't claim to know everything but I never heard of this as an option.  Who told you this?  What do the seat belts in there now look like?  As far as I know, the only variations for that year was just the color.  Not until I think 1973 was there a change where there were retractors to coil up the seatbelts.  I think the factory front shoulder harnesses should clip to the roof.  They attach to the front lap belt at the metal buckle.

1974 saw the more modern fully retracted belts.  There is a hole cut in the interior rear quarter panels that the belt passes through into a retractor.

First and most important rule that I missed was, lots of light. I thought my garage was brite enough but boy was I wrong.

As far as a shop manual get the actual Dodge assembly manual. Great book IMO helps you figure a lot of things out if you are missing stuff lkie I was.

The previous owner told me that. I reckon that he thought the factory lap and shoulder belts are considered 3 point They are as you describe they clip to the roof and also appear to have a belt across the seat.  Is it possible to buy this style anymore?

Is that similar to the CD deal one can purchase on Ebay?

Yeah I know it doesn't have those. Its just standard from what I could see. I guess when he mentioned sport harnesses he meant 3 point seatbelts and I thought he meant racing harnesses from factory lol.

I would imagine it is possible to buy reproductions.  Some people at the resto time opt for more moden style seatbelts without going the route of a racing harness or anything.  They also might prefer this over buying used factroy seatbelts, sacrifice originality for safety basically.

The CD manual I would imagine would be like the paper one although I have never seen it.  I like to actually hold a book, good toilet reading...  :roflsmiley:

I picked up the manuals off Ebay.  There are 2 books, not sure how to call them but one is like a service manual and one is a chassis and body manual.  The advantage to the CD is that you can print up pages and not worry about getting your manual dirty and also ove rhte years the pages get brittle, tear, etc...

As far as the post card sized card you found, I'm not aware of a mini build sheet unless the mice made it that small.  Mice got mine before I could get to it but I got a reasonable amount.  If you want, post a pic of that card and maybe someone can ID it.  Don;t throw anything away!  Look for the build sheets under the front seats, rear seat cushions, under the rug, on top of the glove box cardboard insert, behind the plastic seat backs on the front seats.

As far as your question as to what is original or not, feel free to post pictures and I'm sure someone will know what is factory and what is not.  We love guessing games here!

Have fun with it and glad the baby's at home!

Fantastic guys. I don't recall ever being this excited. Its gonna be a lot of work and time, but I'm  even stoked knowing that. At the end I will have a perfect example of the most beautiful car ever made.
