Hello everyone,
I been working on a 73 barracuda that I got almost a year ago and can't wait to get this car road ready.
It is a 318 car with ac and center conceal.
I just got done putting in a set of 3:91 gears and a true trac. Car also has a 727 in that shifts great.
I am working on a 340 for the this and hope to get it to run as good as a big block.
I got lucky on the find of the car, my dad is a propane man and has deliverd gas to this guy who had it for 12 years. It was sitting in the weeds next to the tank. Car needs a little body work but is really not in that bad shape.
Now for the best part, I paid 2,500 for it and got it home and started it with only a battery and gas. It did not run good but it did run.
Now he is the catch I had to go threw and took a chance and came out great. The tilte was signed and not in the guys name I got it from. I jumped threw some hoops but got a clear title in my name now.
Know for the bad news, I am a signal guy that does not make a hole lot but I do have it inside know and I am working on it slowly.
I redone all the brakes, has new front calipers ( it is disk in the front) new lines and hoses. Has stainless hoses front and back, all new lines that were pre-bent and also new master and brake booster. Every is new but the rotors and drums and e-brake cables.
I have also fixed all the wiring and put it back to stock. The only changes I made is I added some grounds under the dash to help out the old ones. I could not get the factory clock to work tho but will work on that in the future when I need something to do and also yet to fix the horns.
Know for some good news, I just took it around my block to see how it would drive and well needs more work but it did drive. The front end is tight but squeks a lot and the carb is trashed. Also the distributor is worn out to. Seen that timming floats from 22 degrees to 36 with out touching. And the carb is sucking vacuum threw the shaft.
I do have a 340 I am working on and have a good start on it.
Have a nice 750 Holley 4150 for it and also a nice set of heads. The heads I forgot the numbers they were but they are mopar proformance high swrill from what the machine shop said. They also have been ported and redone. The springs I used came in the crane cam kit. Cam is a 540 lift. I don't know the exact specs with looking at the card but takes 391 gears and 10:1 compression and they say a 3,000 stall to to run.
I got also a full Muldoon oil pan and pump with mopar baffle and harden oil pump drive.
I also got a set of roller tip rockers that are 1:6.
O and the came is solid.
Intake is a 340 victor from elderbrock.
Ounce I get the rest of the parts then I will send the block out. Still need the lower end stuff but the 340 did look very good when I tore it down. Had stock pistons in it but the crank had been turned down 10 thousand.
Wish I could tell more but this is it for know.
O and the interior just needs carpet and dash and back panel to look very good. Seats are perfect and consell only has one small crack.
Thanks for reading this long story and feel free to comment.
