Cuda Hood - Custom Engine Emblem ??
« on: August 16, 2012 - 11:45:12 AM »
I've got the 'cuda340 emblems on my hood.  Previous owner installed them after paint, but they're all crooked as if either the holes or the emblem pins were slightly off.  Plus I've now got the 340 stroked to a 416.  I want to get rid of the existing emblems.  I'm afraid that if I buy new 340 emblems, they may still look bad if it's actually the spacing of the holes on the hood.

I would really like to find some nice 416 numerals that would look good and cover up the holes.  I'd even spring for a custom emblem with pins if there's a place that can make them.

What should I do?

There is/was a company that advertised on here that made custom emblems, never used them though.

It's a win-win.  I get the info and also have the benefit of starting a fight between you two.  What a country!!!!   :wavingflag:

I'll request info on the emblems and report back.  But who will I report to?  You guys can fight it out.

I called and spoke to Dave.  He was very friendly (for what that's worth).  They are still making them, and they are slightly swamped with orders.  He asked me to measure my 'cuda340 emblem, so I sent him a picture and measurements of the apostrophe, the letters and the numerals.  My entire assembly measures as follows:

apostrophe is 3/8 " long
c, u and a are 7/16" high
d is 1/2" high
numerals are all 1/2" high
total width of entire assembly including apostrophe is 5 and 1/8" long
width of text and numerals (without apostrophe) is 4 and 3/4" long

The holes are at the end of the assembly, so the text/numerals need to be at LEAST 5" long to cover them up (in my opinion).  Their assembly is one-piece billet with 3M adhesive tape so it doesn't use the holes, it covers them up.  He said that will keep water from leaking into the holes.  LOL, the only thing that keeps birds out of my hood scoops is the mesh!

He didn't have the price for that assembly with him, but he guessed that it would be about $160.  That's a lot more than I saw in the thread from 2010 above, unless he was talking about $75 each.  I'll report back when I get the #'s
