Here's a pic on an original I had, definitely not metal.  It was all torn up from blowing off when the hood pins were left off.
Now have a repo from AAR and it was molded in black and it's awesome.

Do those hoods suck in water when it rains? Any problems or not really? Thanks.

 I'm sure it does a little but I've never had an issue with it?  Most times we don't drive our cars as daily drivers  and just ocasionally get caught in a rain shower. I did at Carlisle the one year. No biggie, it will dry .  Free water injection?  :icon16:

I am at a loss for why my hood is different. Wonder if I got some sort of pre-production peice?? Either that or an early 70s body shop miracle lol.

Not doubting or questioning what you have but just for info the only pre or early production T/A hood that I am aware of is on the El Hemi 1970 Hemi Challenger that was from Brazil.  I guess the owner worked for Mopar down there and got an early hood.  I think it differers in that the vents may be different and I think the actual scoop is pushed back a little but I do not recall any metal in the hood being mentioned. Read this in a Mopar mag.

It would make sense to put the metal but the fiberglassing process may be more complicated.  A lot of the earlt hood bowed over time.

1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

I know that feeling  :banghead:  My brother left the pins out of mine, luckily it blew off and never even touched the car! The body guy did a great job fixing it but the extra paint and fiberglass made it just heavy enough that the springs won't hold it up anymore. So I will be buying a new one too I guess.
