Challenger t/a hood

Anyone have pictures of a original t/a hood underside, mainly trying to figure out what I have.

do a search on t/a hoods, i seen a pic of a white one for sale.

1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

This is where I got mine from. I wish they would mold them in black!

That would make more sense since probably 99% of these hoods will be black!  One good rock chip and white will be showing through the black paint!

I have a real TA hood on my car, underside is metal. Top side is fiberglass. The factory TA hoods were literally bondo'd together.

All the real T/A's I've seen ( mine is a "clone?" ) have a really rough fiberglass finish on the bottom. The finish and fit of the real ones was horrible.

Brad, how do you like the one you have?  I've been looking at this one for a while waiting to bite the bullet.   My only turnoff is that the gel/surface coat is white but it does look to be very stout.  Any ideas on the it weight?

It's OK ? Like someone mentioned any stone chips stand out like a sore thumb ( don't have any yet!) If I had it to do over again I would get the one molded in black just for that reason. I can't remember who he is but there is like a 6 month waiting list and he seemed to have a really good reputaion when I was looking?
 :banghead: Sorry can't remember his name/buisness? I think he was over on Moparts but not sure?
I never weighted mine? It's not lightweight by any stretch of the imagination. I'm not a "purist" so I like the better finished underbelly better than the originals. But that's just me?
It did take some bodywork to get it somewhat straight like any fiberglass part I've ever seen. You will not just paint it and bolt it on!
I went through 2 sets of springs till I found one that holds up the hood , but I don't use them as ( just like the originals) it started to bow the hood when closed.
It is pretty darn cool and always puts a smile on my face cruizing down the road looking at it !

I'm curious too about the metal.  I know that a lot of people say that original hoods tened to bow from the hood springs.  If they had metal bracing, they wouldn't bow would they?  I'm not doubting but just curious...  :dunno:

A couple questions..
How does this hood bolt up to the hinges?? is it the same as the real T/A hood??
Is there any fit problems??
Do the hood pins line up correctly??
and can you use the T/A/AAR type hood springs, or does this hood require the heaier springs??

I answered your PM before I noticed this post.
Bolts up the same as stock, same bolts.
I found the T/A springs I bought were bowing the hood so I took them off and don't use them. I use a simple bent rod to hold up the hood now.
